The Perak Turf Club, in partnership with Magic Millions Sales, unveiled a series of incentives to revitalize horse racing and ownership during the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YOs Sale Trophy and the 2023 Equine International Airfreight Trophy race day in Ipoh on Sunday, 1 October.
Mr. David Chester, the International Sales Director of Magic Millions, outlined key incentives to trainer, owners and enthusiasts. These included a contribution of A$3000 from the International Equine Air Freight Company to help cover the expenses of flying horses to Malaysia. Additionally, Dato John Lim, Chairman of The Perak Turf Club, announced a subsidy of A$5000 for each horse purchased at the 2YOs sale, with a cap of 15 horses collectively for different buyers/owners. Each owner, even with multiple purchases, is eligible for one subsidy.
Furthermore, the winning trainer of the Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YOs in Training Sale Trophy received a Sale Credit of A$5000, earmarked for buying horses at the Magic Millions sale. Chester commended the Club’s efforts in fostering growth for the future of horse racing in the region, stating, “The Perak Turf Club is making efforts to encourage owners and potential owners to invest in young and exciting horses, aiming to restore the sport to its former glory, making horse racing in Ipoh an exhilarating lifestyle and something for Perak to look forward to.”
