Race Preview

R1 – PRIX DES CAMELIAS – 1600m (a1m) – TURF – Condition Race – Flat – EUR € 23.000

1. KESHAPOUR – Beaten only by the useful Stanghellini at Deauville last time and ought to improve
for this step up in distance. One to beat
2. NIKKALUOKTA – Entitled to improve after a discreet debut, in which he finished 6th. Should
have more to offer, so could get into the picture
3. DARLINGHURST – Well-bred colt, acquired for €260,000 last fall, and was very popular on
debut. Will improve for the experience of that outing (6th)
4. SIENNOIS – Well-related colt, the nephew of National Defense, who would have gained plenty
from his debut outing (6th). Not taken lightly
5. TASHANKA – Fetched €130,000 at a Breeze Up sale this spring and is one to note on debut.
Warrants the utmost respect
6. HASTA LA VISTA – Célestine Bouvier, with a 3,5kg allowance, rides this colt on debut for trainer
Jean-Pierre Gauvin. Outsider

Summary : Having finished 4th on debut, KESHAPOUR (1) confirmed his promise by finishing 2nd
at Deauville next/last time. He has revealed quality and should, with the benefit of experience, open
his account with the step up to this trip likely to unlock improvement. Newcomer TASHANKA (5),
acquired for €130,000 at the Breeze Ups this spring, could pose a threat along with well-bred
DARLINGHURST (3) who should have more to offer after a pleasing introduction.

SELECTIONS
KESHAPOUR (1) – TASHANKA (5) – DARLINGHURST (3) – SIENNOIS (4)

R2 – PRIX DES ORCHIDEES – 1600m (a1m) – TURF – Condition Race – Flat – EUR € 23.000

1. MULTIPLE CHOICE – Well-related filly, the niece of sire Kingman, who cost a hefty €880,000 as
a yearling last fall. Open to improvement after catching the eye on debut (5th)
2. KOSLOVKA – Finished unplaced on debut but would have gained plenty from that experience
and is likely to improve
3. GRAND SAXON – Was left alone this summer following her 5th in a Milan Listed race. Has the
means to play a role in a race of this nature
4. MAYWE – Entitled to improve after an encouraging debut, in which he finished 5th. Will have
more to offer, so could get into the picture
5. LAPOINTEDESPIEDS – Beaten only by the Listed-placed Fathom on debut. Ought to improve
and should fight MULTIPLE CHOICE (1) for victory
6. ALIMARA – Well-related debutante, sister to Listed winner Amellata. Warrants respect on debut
with Maxime Guyon engaged to ride
7. STARLITZA – Ludovic Proietti-trained Erasmus filly to be ridden on debut by Grégoire Legras.
Best watched for now
8. ROSADORA – Nicolas Bellanger-trained debutante to be ridden by Nuno Manuel Lopes Duarte
with the benefit of a 2,5kg allowance

Summary : The granddaughter of Group I winner Zenda and closely related to the exceptional
Kingman, MULTIPLE CHOICE (1) is a serious candidate for success here with the benefit of an
encouraging debut 5th under her belt. After finishing 2nd on her debut, LAPOINTEDESPIEDS (5)
seems best placed of the other runners to fight for victory. Returning GRAND SAXON (3) and
debutant ALIMARA (6), with Maxime Guyon aboard, appeal most of the remainder.

SELECTIONS
MULTIPLE CHOICE (1) – LAPOINTEDESPIEDS (5) – GRAND SAXON (3) – ALIMARA (6)

R3 – PRIX CHRISTIAN ROLLET – 1350m (a7f) – TURF – Condition Race – Flat – EUR € 27.000

1. EVERSTAR – Won two of four starts and finished 4th twice before being found wanting at a value
of 40, Dropped just 0,5kg so is best watched for now
2. UNE PEINTURE – Improved to win his maiden at Compiègne three starts back and has confirmed
the progress made in both subsequent outings. Will be a factor
3. TOMAKAY – Debut winner closely related to a two-year-old Listed winner. Was acquired for
€120,000 at auction and looks to have a bright future
4. WOOTTON VERNI – Won easily on debut before failing in a Listed race last time. Still unexposed,
cannot be written off just yet
5. YEUX NOISETTES – Finished a reassuring 2nd in his last start but that was in a weaker
(claiming) race. Has more to do
6. ALABAMA MOON – Finished on debut in the coveted Prix des Marettes and made the expected
improvement to score at her next/last start at Nancy. Has more to offer

Summary : TOMAKAY (3), who is a Toronado half-brother to Listed winner Hayejohn, won on
debut without being asked to give of his full potential, so it could pay to follow his progress given
that he ought to improve with the benefit of that run. He will need to do so, though, to get the better
of UNE PAINTURE (2) who, having already revealed sufficient means, has both the form and
experience to fight for victory. ALABAMA MOON (6) was an impressive second-start winner at
Nancy last month and should have more to offer, so makes the trip with legitimate ambitions too.
Being pitched into a Listed race after a winning debut may have come too soon for WOOTTON
VERNI (4) who can’t be written off just yet.

SELECTIONS
TOMAKAY (3) – UNE PEINTURE (2) – ALABAMA MOON (6) – WOOTTON VERNI (4)

R4 – PRIX DU TREMBLAY – 2400m (a1 1/2m) – TURF – GROUPE III AQPS – Flat – EUR € 37.000

1. KHRISMA – Consistent last-start winner who opened her account in a Group III AQPS event and
seems capable of following up in a race of this nature
2. KIFILE DU SEUIL – Finished an encouraging 4th on debut and would have gained plenty from
that experience. Should have more to offer
3. KOCKTAIL DIANE – Finished a well-beaten 12th of 13 on debut at Redon so cannot be
recommended on that evidence. Overlook
4. KARUKERRA – Likely to improve having finished 3rd on debut, albeit some way off, behind
stablemate/selection KHRISMA (1). Keep safe
5. KANDICE ROCK – Antonio Orani rides this Tiger Groom debutante for trainer Stéphane Eveno,
who owns the filly too. Watch for now
6. KOKOUETTE – Unplaced in each of her three outings so, while lightly raced and open to
improvement, is unlikely to trouble the judge
7. KROUSTILLANTE – Improved to finish 5th in the benchmark race won by KHRISMA (1) and,
although held on that form by KARUKERRA (4) too, could have a role to play with further progress
likely

Summary : Emmanuel Clayeux is strongly represented here with 3 of the 7 runners, though
preference is for KHRISMA (1), who is the only runner in the lineup to have already won a race
(beat a useful sort at Moulins last month). She ought to make further progress so is taken to get
the better of KIFILE DU SEUIL (2) and stablemate KARUKERRA (4), both of whom are likely to
improve after promising introductions. KROUSTILLANTE (7), the third string to Clayeux’s bow,
appeals most of the remainder.

SELECTIONS
KHRISMA (1) – KIFILE DU SEUIL (2) – KARUKERRA (4) – KROUSTILLANTE (7)

R5 – GRAND PRIX DES PROVINCES-PRIX ANDRE BABOIN (13E ETAPE DEFI DU GALOP) – 2400m (a1 1/2m) – TURF – Condition Race – Flat – EUR € 52.000

1. ROCK JOYEUX – Two-time winner of Quinté+ events this summer and has excelled in his races
at this track. Should have a role to play
2. WATCH HIM – The best handicap value (highest-rated) in the race and currently leads the Défi
du Galop rankings. Disappointed last time (2000m) but ought to redeem himself back over this
distance
3. LORD ACHILLES – Has quickly found the right rhythm this year after a lengthy layoff and enjoys
racing at this course. Will be a factor
4. HAPTICS – Last-start winner in good form and physical condition. Faces his elders for the first
time but should be competitive
5. CATCH THE STARS – Had been out of sorts in three starts since his latest victory before
bouncing right back to winning ways last time. Remains unreliable, though, and has more to do in
this grade/company
6. EUBOA – Progressive filly who has won her last two starts. Unlikely to have reached her limit yet
so warrants respect

Summary : WATCH HIM (2), who holds the yellow jersey with a comfortable lead in the Défi du
Galop rankings, must be forgiven a recent failure over 2000m at Nancy and is probably worth
another chance. He won his previous outing over 2400m so is given the nod to recapture the
winning thread reverting to this distance. However, he will have to thwart the likely challenge of his
younger brother HAPTICS (4), to whom he must concede 3kg. LORD ACHILLES (3) is the oldest
runner in the race but has the means to make his presence felt at the finish, as does ROCK
JOYEUX (1) who won at this track.

SELECTIONS
WATCH HIM (2) – HAPTICS (4) – LORD ACHILLES (3) – ROCK JOYEUX (1)

R6 – FONDATION CLAUDE POMPIDOU – PRIX DE LA SAONE – 1600m (a1m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Flat – EUR € 16.000

1. WHEEL OF CHANCE – Found the trip too short last time out and is expected to fare batter back
over a mile today
2. ZANTARIO – Four times course winner including thrice over course and distance. Expected to
bounce back to form
3. LE KAKOU – Has been erratic of late and is not easy to fancy on that evidence. Not a priority in
this line-up
4. HOOLONG – Did not enjoy the best of trip last time out in a similar contest and has to be given
some consideration
5. SAINT FIACRE – Not much room for maneuver but always gives everything he has and can get
a look in
6. LE CHATELAIN – Has done nothing of note in four career starts thus far and is easily passed
over
7. TO BE QUEEN – Overcame troubles in the running to score last time over the course & distance.
On a hat trick and must be shortlisted
8. HOLLY STORY – Just the one win from seventeen and last run isn’t reassuring. Others make
more appeal
9. TURTLE CHOPE – Has reduced margin off the new mark but likes the track and cannot be ruled
out
10. DON FALCO – Showed better intentions in last two starts in this division but still has a few
lengths to find. Look elsewhere
11. CHEEKY TRAOU LAND – Good recent form and carries the bottom-weight. Can pop-up at a
price and pick up some prize money

Summary : ZANTARIO (2) is back at his preferred venue where he is a three times course &
distance winner. He should leave behind his recent efforts and is expected to get back in the
winner’s enclosure. TO BE QUEEN (7) showed a lot of courage to win last time out here and has
a penalty to defy this time around. HOOLONG (4) and TURTLE CHOPE (9) are two others that can
get involved at the business end.

SELECTIONS
ZANTARIO (2) – TO BE QUEEN (7) – HOOLONG (4) – TURTLE CHOPE (9)

R7 – PRIX DU RHONE – 1600m (a1m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Flat – EUR € 20.000

1. ASHGHAR – Course winner who is lightly raced this season. Could find the trip a touch short but
can’t be ruled out
2. ASHIKTASH – Disappointed in last start on fibersand but had previously scored at this course.
Expected to redeem himself
3. ENDLESS CHAIN – Has made the frame in her last seven starts and last run is rock solid. Has
every chance of winning
4. LAURENT – Obviously much better than last run shows. Has a winning chance on the back of
his penultimate effort
5. HEYTESBURY LANE – Improved last run when 4th in a claimer and is now back to her last
winning mark. Outside chance
6. BOBIK – Registered his last success in June but unplaced in three starts since then and remains
on a high mark
7. J’AURAIS DU – Good class of a horse in this division but off since March and likely to need the
run
8. ALPAGE – Good consistent gelding who has been off since June. Should be fit enough to run a
good race
9. EL ROY – Won two from thirteen thus far but has never raced over such a short trip. Best to pass
over
10. LORLISALSA – Not much room for maneuver off this mark but get a three pounds claim from
Axelle Nicco and can pick up some prize money
11. FEEL EMOTION – Improved last run at Cavaillon and seems on a workable mark on handicap
debut. Can get a look in

Summary : ENDLESS CHAIN (3) is a good reliable filly and is expected to feature prominently
once again. She is the firm choice and can be retained ahead of LAURENT (4) who is much better
than his last run suggests. ASHIKTASH (2) did not enjoy the track at Vivaux last time and should
show a better figure. ASHGHAR (1) is possibly more effective over longer but cannot be ruled out
of the equation.

SELECTIONS
ENDLESS CHAIN (3) – LAURENT (4) – ASHIKTASH (2) – ASHGHAR (1)
