And we Danced to Bonnaroo

Punters are in for a tough challenge this Friday at Fairview as it is a very difficult card that awaits them.

Centre stage at this meeting will be the third leg of the Nelson Mandela Bay Racing Poly Challenge 1600.

Prince OF Fire who won the first and Narcos who won the second leg and both are entered and cannot be dismissed away easily

Prince Of Fire won the Leg 1 over 1200m and was touched off by Narcos in Leg 2 over 1400m.

The 1600m of this race should not be a problem but it will suit five-year-old mare And We Danced who was third in the second leg and only a short head behind Prince Of Fire and 0.15 lengths behind Narcos.

And We Danced put in a career-best performance that day and was doing good work at the finish.

One who was very unlucky not to win that day was Gallic Tribe who got caught too far out of his ground and made very good late progress.

Others with winning chances are Port Louis, who ran well in both legs, and Perfection who did not run in either leg.

The Gavin Smith-trained gelding has a line of form which makes him a big runner in the race.

Back in March over this course and distance he proved far too good for Port Louis and it was obvious to most that Perfection proved in need of his last run.

Punters should get off to a winning start in Race 1, a Maiden Plate over 1400m, as filly Amazing Colours will be a short price and very likely the winner.

The filly has proven tough to win with and her seven runs have a produced a third on debut followed by six successive runner-up finishes, However, she should prove better than her rivals in this event.

Bonnaroo proved to be a bitter disappointment when returning to the turf in her penultimate start but did do a lot better last time out. She returns to her favourite surface, the Polytrack, in Race 4, a FM 86 Handicap over 1200m.

Bonnaroo was impressive earlier this year and can bounce back to score.

It is worth noting, however, that stable jockey Richard Fourie is on stable companion Summer Odyssey.

Summer Odyssey was caught out of her ground last time out and looked an unlucky loser.

Talking about unlucky losers the connections of Iqembulabesifazane must count themselves very unlucky as the mare was clearly carried out a long way and was brushed more than once.

She only lost by a head.
