Former New Zealand galloper SHIMI GO is on track to maintain his unbeaten Malaysian record when he lines up in the 1100m Rainbow Of Opal Stakes at Ipoh on Sunday.

SHIMI GO indicated his potential to be competitive in the local ranks with a couple of impressive trial performances prior to his local debut on September 17. The five-year-old asserted his authority against Open Maiden company with a 5.75-length victory over 1200m.

SHIMI GO was placed once in seven outings when under the care of Mark Walker in New Zealand and now appears to be a valuable acquisition for last year’s premiership trainer, Cheng Han Yong.

Coetzee can Fire at Ipoh

Trainer Kevin Coetzee currently ranks fifth on the premiership and will saddle up multiple runners at Ipoh this Sunday, including the in-form grey, FIRE AWAY, which is entered in the 1200m Beryl Aquamarine Handicap.

The eight-year-old has had a stellar season, achieving a career-best with four wins and is coming off a victory over this track and distance on October 1st.

Fire Away is on fire this season.

Jockey Ruzaini Supien has won twice aboard this gelding in three mounts, and this combination should prove hard to beat despite the 2.5kg increase in weight.
