Race Preview

R1 – PRIX ANTIVARI – 1500m (a7 1/2f) – TURF – Condition Race – Flat – EUR € 50.000

1. MILIGAN – Well-bred Too Darn Hot colt out of a Listed winner. One to note with Stéphane
Pasquier engaged to ride for Francis-Henri Graffard
2. MISTER GATZ – Adlerflug colt trained by Stéphanie Nigge and to be ridden by Tony Piccone.
Not underestimated on debut
3. MARTIN – Well-bred Almanzor colt related to Group I winners Stormy River and Silverwave.
Must be respected with Cristian Demuro in the irons
4. ROUDOUDOU – Edouard Thueux-trained newcomer with Benjamin Marie engaged to ride this
Ectot colt who is the likely outsider of the field
5. ARLINO – Miroslav Rulec-trained Gutaifan colt to be ridden on debut by Aurélien Lemaitre. Could
get into the picture
6. ROADSHOW – Nicely bred André Fabre-trained Galileo colt whose dam won at Group level.
Potential winner, so is best kept safe
7. YOOX – Lope De Vega colt related to (grandson of) 2012 Arc winner Solémia. Makes plenty
appeal given his pedigree

Summary : This opening event for unraced colts and geldings could well go the way of well-related
YOOX (7), who is the grandson of 2012 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Solémia. Well-bred
Galileo colt ROADSHOW (6) is also likely to run a forward race on debut under Hugo Besnier, who
deputises for the suspended Mickaël Barzalona aboard André Fabre’s charge. MILIGAN (1), with
Stéphane Pasquier engaged to ride this son of Too Darn Hot, and Almanzor colt MARTIN (3), from
an established family on his dam’s side, are others who seem capable of having a say in the finish.

SELECTIONS
YOOX (7) – ROADSHOW (6) – MILIGAN (1) – MARTIN (3)

R2 – PRIX DOUVE – 1500m (a7 1/2f) – TURF – Condition Race – Flat – EUR € 50.000

1. MIZ VEGA – Al Shaqab’s Nicolas Clément-trained Lope De Vega debutante to be ridden by
Stéphane Pasquier. One to note
2. NATIVE PEARL – Siyouni filly who fetched €550,000 at last summer’s Arqana yearling sale. This
filly is a half-sister to Native Trail, a three-time Group I winner
3. CLEOPATRA AL GUNAY – Mendelssohn newcomer trained by Werner Haustein, who has
engaged Olivier Peslier to ride this filly on debut
4. SCHIKERIA – Fabrice Chappet-trained Zarak filly trained by Fabrice Chappet and to be ridden
by Ioritz Mendizibal
5. HIDDENSEE – Dabirsim newcomer to be ridden on debut by Cristian Demuro for trainer HansAlbert Blume. Could get into the picture
6. FAMILY SILVER – Well-bred Dark Angel filly who was acquired for €120,000 at the sales.
Booking of Maxime Guyon is noteworthy
7. SEWRA – Hugo Besnier rides this Dabirsim filly on debut for trainer Marian-Falk Weissmeier.
Best watched for now
8. HAPPY SAXON – Mikel Delzangles-trained Saxon Warrior newcomer to be ridden on debut by
Gérald Mossé. Has only a place chance
9. WITH STARS – Sea The Stars filly whose dam With You won on debut before going on to win at
Group I level as a three-year-old. Follow

Summary : WITH STARS (9) is the product of a mating between Sea the Stars and dual Group
winner With You, so will attract most of the votes given her pedigree. She gets the nod here ahead
of NATIVE PEARL (2), who was among the Top 20 at last summer’s Arqana yearling sale. FAMILY
SILVER (6) is from an established family so is another capable of running well on debut, as is MIZ
VEGA (1) whose trainer Nicolas Clément is skilled at preparing his young charges.

SELECTIONS
WITH STARS (9) – NATIVE PEARL (2) – FAMILY SILVER (6) – MIZ VEGA (1)

R3 – PRIX DE SAINT-PAIR-DU-MONT – 2100m (a1 5/16m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Flat – EUR € 53.000

1. TOLLEVAST – Won by no less than six lengths in a Quinté+ on 25 July at Dieppe and has not
been seen since. Has a 4,5kg penalty to carry but thrives on the ground he gets here
2. ZAUR – Tried his luck in a Listed race and in a Quinté+ without success after four consecutive
wins and has no references on heavy ground. Outsider
3. PLAIN BEAU – Returned from a break with a commendable 6th at ParisLongchamp earlier this
month and is likely to have improved since. Candidate for success
4. MONEYMAN – Has been beating around the bush in handicap races and there are question
marks regarding his aptitude on heavy ground. Should be competitive if effective on it
5. FLATTEN THE CURVE – Undoubtedly needed his comeback outing earlier this month and has
already proven his worth at this handicap value. Particularly appreciates heavy ground so has
legitimate claims
6. NORTH HUNTER – Veteran gelding boasting three close-up finishes in four starts at this level.
Proven on heavy ground and could see his efforts rewarded
7. DREAMS – Inconsistent but is not incapable on soft ground that he enjoys. Will be equipped with
Australian blinkers for the first time so could resurface here under Stéphane Pasquier
8. SUNFAST – Returned to winning ways recently in a claiming race at Clairefontaine-Deauville
and the predicted sticky ground will serve his interests. Dark horse
9. SHAMSABAD – Well known in Quinté+ races and recently acquitted himself well (5th) at this
venue. Has never been out of the top four over this course and distance so ought to be competitive
again – not taken lightly
10. QUELLO – Set the record straight in a claiming race last time after a disappointing comeback
run. Now trained by Philippe Decouz and is back in a handicap now with a lively outside chance
11. YOU ROCK – Usually performs well at this venue and has already shone over the proposed
course and distance. Absent since last May so is best watched for now
12. ZULU NYALA – Finished 3rd in this category at Compiègne in March and would have needed
her last start after an absence of seven months. Can do better but is best watched for now
13. LUNA THE GREAT – Won on her only visit to this course but has been inconsistent in the
claiming category recently. For another day
14. HOOTTON – Ran well in a Quinté+ at the start of the year but has been disappointing since.
Has been dropped in the ratings/weights and is now stretching out to this distance – has upset
potential
15. MORSAN – Showed signs of a return to form by finishing 2nd last time at ParisLongchamp but
is stretching out to this distance for the first time. Place chance at best
16. SNUGGLES – Winner at this track last month but made no impression at Compiègne next/last
time. Others make more appeal

Summary : NORTH HUNTER (6) has seldom disappointed on French soil and has finished closeup in three of four outings at this level, so wouldn’t be winning out of turn. He gets the nod ahead
of consistent PLAIN BEAU (3), who caught the eye last time (6th) when returning from a break and
should have more to offer, and hat-trick seeking TOLLEVAST (1) who, with Christophe Soumillon
engaged, is capable of overcoming a wide No 16 starting berth to play a leading role. FLATTEN
THE CURVE (5) has the means to be competitive too and is another who ought to fare better after
a comeback outing. MONEYMAN (4) is a model of consistency but has few references on heavy
ground, while DREAMS (7) is out of sorts but not incapable of resurfacing in this category with
Australian blinkers fitted for the first time. The shortlist is completed by SHAMSABAD (9) and
QUELLO (10).

SELECTIONS
NORTH HUNTER (6) – PLAIN BEAU (3) – TOLLEVAST (1) – FLATTEN THE CURVE (5)

R4 – PRIX GLORIEUSE – 2500m (a1 9/16m) – TURF – GROUPE II AQPS – Flat – EUR € 51.000

1. IPSY – Seldom far off the mark and finished 4th in her only start this year. Capable of getting
involved but has only a place chance
2. IMAGINE BANBOU – Runner-up to Jeu de Thaix in the Group I Prix de Craon last time, with
ICONE ANGEVINE (4) behind. Candidate for success
3. JEANNETTE – Non Runner
4. ICONE ANGEVINE – Finished 3rd in the Group I Prix de Craon behind IMAGINE BANBOU (2)
but ought to pose more of a threat here. Will fight for victory
5. JAIM – Seldom finishes far off the mark and did improve to take 4th last time but has no more
than a place chance here
6. JOAQUINA DICI – Closely matched with the principals on the Group I Prix de Craon form.
Finished 5th in that race and won’t be far off again
7. IN THE MIX – Disappointing 9th last time but had finished 2nd and 3rd twice each in her previous
four starts. Has a place chance
8. JIMFA – Finished 6th in the reference race (Group I Prix de Craon) but is likely to get closer with
a better run in transit. Not taken lightly

Summary : IMAGINE BANBOU (2) found only Jeu de Thaix too good in the Group I Prix de Craon
at ParisLongchamp last time and, with the latter having boosted that form with an impressive
performance at Auteuil since, is good value to reconnect with success in this Group II event. ICONE
ANGEVINE (4), who finished 3rd in the aforementioned reference race, ought to pose a threat and
is preferred ahead of JIMFA (8) who, having not enjoyed the smoothest passage in the benchmark
race, remains capable of staking a claim in the finish. JOAQUINA DICI (6) completes the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
IMAGINE BANBOU (2) – ICONE ANGEVINE (4) – JIMFA (8) – JOAQUINA DICI (6)

R5 – PRIX SOLITUDE – 2000m (a1 1/4m) – TURF – Condition Race – Flat – EUR € 55.000

1. AMNERIS – Consistent filly with sound form references. Finished 3rd at this venue on sticky
ground at the start of the year and has legitimate claims here
2. ZARGA – Ultra-consistent performer in each of her eight starts across the Channel. Not taken
lightly in her first start on French soil
3. UNDERSTATED – Struggling to regain any form or spark the improvement needed to be
competitive here. Unlikely to trouble the judge
4. ATAKAMA – Consistent for the most part and now has two comeback races in her legs. Ought
to appreciate the softening of the ground
5. IZNIK – Runner-up recently for the third time in her last four starts, found only the excellent
Tasmania too good last time. Candidate for success
6. SANTHIA – Consistent last-start winner, although was well beaten (8th) at this level four starts
back. Has only a place chance
7. WINNING SIDE – Finished a well-beaten last of 9 in a Group III contest last time but isn’t
incapable of getting into the picture on her earlier form
8. UKRAINE – Relatively unexposed after just four starts, winning once and finishing 2nd twice in
her four starts. Must raise her game to be competitive
9. WINTER’S LOVE – Has continued to blow hot and cold, although did win on PSF last time out.
Could have a say here if confirming that form/improvement back on the turf
10. GYPSY GOLD – Progressive last-start scorer whose recent Vichy success gave the impression
that she could acquit herself competitively at this level
11. SHMI – Finished an excellent 3rd in a Listed race at Toulouse last time out and should fight for
victory here on that form
12. RED DANIELLE – Runner-up in two of three starts before improving to open her account last
time. More needed to be competitive here but does have more scope than most
13. AMELIELYMPIQUE – Made a winning return to action last time after a four-month absence and
has already proven her effectiveness on soft tracks. Dark horse
14. ADELIADE – Inconsistent but seldom far off the mark. Finished 4th behind IZNIK (5) at
Compiègne earlier in the month and should have a role to play if confirming
15. RAVIOLI – Last-start winner on her handicap/Quinte+ debut but has been absent since that
July success. One to watch

Summary : Jean-Claude Rouget is doubly represented in this Listed event for three-year-old fillies
but his best chance of victory is with IZNIK (5), who finished 2nd recently for the third time in her
last four starts. SHMI (11), a model of consistency, is likely to fight for victory along with ADELIADE
(14), supplemented for this engagement and likely to improve after her recent 4th at Compiègne.
AMNERIS (1) has the means to play a role and is another to consider returning from a break.

SELECTIONS
IZNIK (5) – SHMI (11) – ADELIADE (14) – AMNERIS (1)

R6 – PRIX DE NOTRE-DAME DE LIVAYE – 2100m (a1 5/16m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Flat – EUR € 22.000

1. NOT SO SILLY – Has looked distinctly ordinary for some time now, so his chances are limited
even at this level. Ignore
2. MOTORSPORT – Unplaced in both comeback outings this year but did finish 3rd on this SaintCloud layout last year. Dark horse
3. KARIOITAHI – Inconsistent but showed her form and well-being by finishing 2nd at Amiens
recently. Can fight for victory if confirming
4. MANDLEFT – Struggling to regain any form or spark the improvement needed to be competitive
here, so unlikely to trouble the judge
5. KICK BOXING – Inconsistent but seldom finishes far off the mark on a going day. Hard to trust
but is not easily ruled out
6. LOONA SPIGAO – Returned to form off a reduced handicap value by winning last time but
continues to blow hot and cold. Unreliable
7. ROYAL HEIGHTS – Seldom finishes far off the mark and could get into the picture here but has
no more than a place chance
8. DETESNOUVELLES – Unreliable but, judged on her form references, remains capable of getting
into the picture. Hard to trust but is as hard to rule out
9. SAVILE ROW – First across the line at this venue last time but was demoted to 2nd having
hampered a rival. Ought to gain compensation
10. ANATH – Unplaced in each of the four outings after her victory five starts back. Could resurface
off a reduced handicap value
11. BELEAVE YOU – Caught the eye at Amiens recently when bouncing back to form with this
headgear fitted. Will have a role to play if confirming that improvement
12. PRINCEDESCHAMPS – Unreliable but undeniably possesses the means to play a leading role
in a race of this nature. Keep safe
13. FAWKES – Has looked distinctly ordinary for some time now, so his chances are limited even
at this level. Ignore
14. AMERICAN LILY – Struggling to regain any form or spark the improvement needed to be
competitive here, so unlikely to trouble the judge

Summary : SAVILE ROW (9) was demoted to 2nd last time having hampered his rival. He did
finish strongly on that occasion and is good value to make amends here on that evidence.
BELEAVE YOU (11) got back on the right track by finishing 3rd with this headgear fitted last time
and he should confirm that improvement with the Australian blinkers retained, so could pose a
threat. KARIOITAHI (3), confirmed at this level, and PRINCEDESCHAMPS (12), whose last-start
failure should be forgiven, are also capable of having a say in the outcome.

SELECTIONS
SAVILE ROW (9) – BELEAVE YOU (11) – KARIOITAHI (3) – PRINCEDESCHAMPS (12)
