Singapore racing continues this Saturday, November 4th, featuring an 11-race turf and dirt fixture.
Promising four-year-old GOLDEN BROWN can make amends for his narrow last-start defeat when he returns to Kranji in the $50,000 Class 4 Handicap over 1200m on the Polytrack.
Trained by Tim Fitzsimmons, GOLDEN BROWN had previously been rested for 10 months before resuming with an impressive maiden win two starts ago in early August. Most recently, the Supido gelding was far from disgraced with a close second over this track and distance in his Class 4 debut. The form has since been confirmed with multiple runners performing well subsequently.
Returning from a two-month break, GOLDEN BROWN has turned in an easy trial win leading up to his first-up assignment this week. In what appears to be a below-par Class 4 field, he is a leading contender.
His main rival is the Jason Ong-trained WAR PRIDE, who is first-up after a four-month break. WAR PRIDE is making his second start back in Class 4, where he is always a threat, and was last seen finishing an unlucky fourth place over 1200m on turf.
On that occasion, he was wide and checked in the run before being badly held up in the straight, beaten by just 1.25 lengths. He has looked sharp in his trials leading up to his return, and any Jason Ong-trained runner deserves plenty of respect given his current form.
Elsewhere, keep an eye on PACIFIC BEAUTY in the $20,000 Open Maiden contest over 1200m on turf in Race 6.
She drew wide in barrier 12 last start, and a tactics notification stated that she would be ridden back. Beginning awkwardly, she raced greenly while standing the lead speed by many lengths at the 800m and 400m marks. However, she responded sharply in the straight and made up a lot of ground to finish 2.25 lengths behind in sixth place.
She has since been rested and races first-up after a stable change to Dan Meagher. Her trial was quiet but promising. With a light weight in a moderate Open Maiden contest, she looks primed for a strong return from a lower draw.
