France Form Sheet – 29th November

Race Preview

R1 – PRIX DU MANOIR DE LA SALAMANDRE – 1900m (a1 3/16m) – ALL WEATHER – Divised Handicap – Flat – EUR € 53.000

1. PRINCIPE – Backed up his Argentan success by winning a Quinte+ over this course and distance
last time out. Carries a 3,5kg penalty but has won two of three starts on PSF and his limits are not
known
2. CELESTIN – Was claimed by Julian Résimont after winning two starts back and made a good
impression for new connections when winning again last time. Faces a tougher test here but enjoys
the PSF
3. VENTS CONTRAIRES – Has been sparingly raced this year, finishing unplaced in each of his
three outings. Has dropped to a more competitive mark, though, so a revival on his part is not
entirely impossible
4. KATOUCHA – Undeniably capable filly but she let her supporters down in the Prix du Pays de
Bray last time. Competitive at this level and the booking of Maxime Guyon catches the eye, so is
best kept safe
5. TIGRR – Has shown his form and well-being in the South-East, though his two outings on this
Normandy course have ended in failure. Outsider
6. COSMAS – Last-start winner in just his second outing for trainer Nicolas Caullery. Has a 2,5kg
penalty to carry but was supplemented to participate in this event – dark horse
7. GIVE ME GOLD – Was not disgraced in finishing 5th last time having been used up early to
overcome a wide draw. Well drawn and is effective on this surface, so not taken lightly
8. SZAFRAN – Made no impression in a similar contest last time when making his first start under
the rule of James Grassick. Up significantly to this distance with a 1,5kg less, but is best watched
for now
9. TRUE TEDESCO – Most unlucky in the benchmark race on 5 November when finishing unplaced
but with a lot of running left in him. Competitive at this level and cannot be written off
10. SAINT ETIENNE – Caught the eye with a remarkable final effort to finish 2nd in a similar contest
last time, proving his competitiveness off this mark. Effective on this surface, so is a candidate for
success
11. CENTORINA – Has been revived by the fitting of blinkers and has never disappointed on this
surface, but must face her elders for the first time. Has more of a place chance than a winning one
12. STORM CITY – Rewarded for his consistency with a belated maiden success at the 12th
attempt. Has improved stepped up in distance and could be better than rated, so has claims despite
carrying a penalty
13. LOFSONGUR ISLANDE – Faces her elders for the first time but does have a particular liking
for the PSF. Not incapable of getting into the picture                                                                      14. O’SSITOT – Ran well in his first start for Gousserie Racing after leaving Joël Boisnard’s stable.
Has a tougher task against his elders but is competitiveness off his current mark, so is not easily
discounted
15. LETTY’S MARVEL – Veteran last-start winner, at home on this track and proven at this level.
Carries a 3kg penalty but has run well off a higher mark in the past – the joker in the pack
16. FAYONA – Capable mare “bogged down” in the heavy ground at ParisLongchamp last time
(7th). She has regained freshness since and her best references give her a place chance on these
weight terms

Summary : SAINT ETIENNE (10) caught the eye in his first start against older rivals with a superb
finishing effort in the race of reference earlier this month and, on that evidence with a proven track
record to his name, is likely to play a leading role. TRUE TEDESCO (9), extremely unlucky not to
have achieved a better result that day, GIVE ME GOLD (7), who was a courageous 5th having had
to be used up early to overcome a wide draw, and PRINCIPLE (1), winner of that race with a 3,5kg
penalty to shoulder now, are all expected to acquit themselves competitively and feature high on
the shortlist. KATOUCHA (4) is better than the 13th position he finished in that race and is capable
of getting involved.

SELECTIONS
SAINT ETIENNE (10) – TRUE TEDESCO (9) – GIVE ME GOLD (7) – PRINCIPE (1)

R2 – PRIX DE PREAUX – 1900m (a1 3/16m) – ALL WEATHER – Condition Race – Flat – EUR € 30.000

1. PRIVATE DINNING – Caught the eye when running on from last to finish on the heels of a
subsequent Class 2 winner so has a winning chance here with improvement expected
2. SOLEIL LEVANT – A well-bred filly who made no impression on debut but ought to improve with
that run under her belt. Not taken lightly
3. PEBBLESSHINYBRIGHT – Another likely to improve after finishing a modest 8th on debut, but
is best watched for now. Others preferred
4. MME JOURDAIN – Finished 2nd on debut and 3rd in her second start, so has shown enough to
be competitive. Keep safe
5. SCARLETTA – Finished 4th of 6 in her introduction on this surface but will find this a great deal
tougher. Best watched for now
6. CORNELIENNE – Runner-up on debut in the coveted Prix de la Chapelle and would have gained
plenty from that experience. Will be a factor

Summary : PRIVATE DINNING (1) caught the eye on debut when dropped out to last before
running on well to finish 4th over this course and distance, and the runner-up (Birthe) has
subsequently franked that form with victory in a Class 2 race in which she beat The Last Dance,
who had previously accounted for CORNELIENNE (6) in her first outing. MME JOURDAIN (4) has
the form and experience to be competitive, so could pose a threat to those principals. Well-bred
SOLEIL LEVANT (2) is likely to improve and appeals most of the remainder

SELECTIONS
PRIVATE DINNING (1) – CORNELIENNE (6) – MME JOURDAIN (4) – SOLEIL LEVANT (2)

R3 – PRIX DU CHATEAU DES AYGUES – 1900m (a1 3/16m) – ALL WEATHER – Divised Handicap – Flat – EUR € 18.000

1. ZWIALH – Imposed herself with great authority two starts back and her recent 4th was proof she
remains competitive under the resultant penalty. Keep safe
2. WALDKAUZ – Has maintained a fair level of form/consistency. Unlucky not to have finished
closer in his last outing at this course and is good value to make amends under these conditions
3. RIHAMA – Out of sorts but has seen weight/rating situation improve as a result. Benefits from
her rider’s 1,5kg allowance so could have a say in the finish
4. ON Y VA – Inconsistent although not incapable. Appeared to struggle under a penalty last time
following a victory two starts back, so is best watched for now
5. TORTOLA – Struggling to regain any form or spark the improvement needed to be competitive
here, so unlikely to trouble the judge
6. FLAMBOYANTE – Consistent for the most part and should not be condemned hastily following
her recent failure. Could redeem herself here
7. GREAT CHARLIE – Has repeatedly proven his competitiveness at this level, though a No 16
starting stall will do his chances no favours
8. LAKE NAIVASHA – Rewarded for her consistency with a course-and-distance victory last time,
but has never shone off a mark this high. Unlikely threat under a 2,5kg penalty
9. TORIANO – Capable veteran, consistent for the most part but struggled under a penalty last time
and could do so again here
10. HEARTBEAT – Unreliable but not incapable of getting into the picture judged on his best
references. Hard to trust but is as hard to rule out
11. ZILLIPOM – Struggling to regain any form or spark the improvement needed to be competitive
here, so unlikely to trouble the judge
12. ZHIVAGO – Would certainly have made progress following a much-needed comeback outing
and is capable of getting into the picture. Dark horse
13. GOLFING STAR – Bounced back to to form by finishing 2nd last time and could get a look in
here if building on that progress
14. SHARP QUEEN – Finished a reassuring 2nd in her last start and could make her presence felt
here if confirming that improvement
15. SOARING EAGLE – Struggling to regain any form or spark the improvement needed to be
competitive here, so unlikely to trouble the judge
16. KENNY – Has demonstrated good form and consistency for several weeks now, so should be
competitive for the leading places

Summary : Having won at this level last year off a mark 4kg higher than his current rating,
WALDKAUZ (2) looks good value to reconnect with success and should, logically, fight for victory.
ZWIALH (1), who is well placed in the starting stalls, heads the list of potential dangers which also
includes GREAT CHARLIE (7), who did not have the same luck in the draw, and consistent KENNY
(16) with Barzalona aboard. RIHAMA (3) is back on a more competitive mark and has claims too,
along with ZHIVAGO (12) and FLAMBOYANTE (6).

SELECTIONS
WALDKAUZ (2) – ZWIALH (1) – GREAT CHARLIE (7) – KENNY (16)

R4 – PRIX DE MONTFORT – 1900m (a1 3/16m) – ALL WEATHER – Condition Race – Flat – EUR € 30.000

1. JESS LIVERMORE – Made a promising start to his career by finishing 5th in a competitive field
and, with the form of that race working out well, has a winning chance here
2. MIA MAN – Runner-up on debut to the well-bred and highly regarded Colombus. Will be a factor
with any amount of improvement likely
3. ALGOT – Managed only to finish 8th on debut but will sport blinkers on this occasion for a trainer
who is in good form. Dark horse
4. CAPE CANNON – Consistent sort with sound form references and whose experience will stand
him in good stead. Keep safe
5. PROBABLY ME – Showed signs of improvement last time when finishing 6th having finished 8th
on debut. Needs to do more here
6. FASHION GREY – Improved with the benefit of an introductory outing (9th) to finish 3rd in his
second start. Needs to find more to be competitive here
7. SANTO – Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing 4th on debut at Bordeaux in testing (heavy)
conditions. Not taken lightly stepping onto PSF now
8. NICE PAULI – Finished 7th on debut and failed to improve in his next/last start when only 10th
on this surface. Others make more appeal
9. YOOX – Was an encouraging 3rd on debut ahead of Mister Gatz, who has finished 2nd in a
Saint-Cloud maiden since. Leading light
10. VIBRATO – Xavier Blanchet-trained Dabirsim gelding to be ridden on debut by Simon Planque.
Best just to watch for now
11. SWANN – Wootton Bassett gelding trained by Paul De Chevigny, who has engaged Axel Baron
to ride. Best watched for now

Summary : JESS LIVERMORE (1) may have only finished 5th on debut but the form of that race
has worked out well, as some who finished behind him have run well (won and finished 2nd)
subsequently, so he could fight for victory here if making the expected improvement. YOOX (9),
who was an encouraging 3rd in his introduction, and MIA MAN (2), only narrowly beaten by a wellbred rival when 2nd on his debut, are likely to be up for the fight. CAPE CANNON (4) has the form
and experience to stake a claim, with the shortlist completed by ALGOT (3) and SANTO (7).

SELECTIONS
JESS LIVERMORE (1) – YOOX (9) – MIA MAN (2) – CAPE CANNON (4)
