Malaysia’s highest rated galloper AWESOME STORM (1) returns to the track this Saturday and will head the weights in the 1200m Sungai Besi Autoworld Cup (Race 5). Rated 20 points higher than his nearest rival, AWSOME STORM (1) will be freshened following his 4th in the Sports Toto Supreme Challenge Cup on October 22. Prior to that the 6yo ran a credible 3rd in the 1600m G1 Selangor Gold Cup after being posted without cover from barrier 14. With a record of 5 wins from 8 starts over the 1200m, he looks set to bounce back. WHITE HOOF BIRD (2) will be resuming and is coming off an impressive trial win Tuesday morning. Boasting a good first up record (9-4-0-3), the 7yo hasn’t raced since finishing runner up behind group one winner, Berry Bliss back in June. Despite a 17 month hiatus from racing, former Singapore galloper HEARTENING FLYER (4) was far from disgraced when placed 4th in a Metro A contest last start and will strip much fitter from that performance. TITAN PEGASUS (6) is aiming for the hat trick but will face his toughest assignment after competing in Class 3 company recently. The 6yo is in career best form and he drops significantly in the weights. CHINESE TEA (3) delivered on his potential downing the smart Gamestonks over 1100m and is a definite chance with luck from the outside gate. Former Kiwi galloper, SHIMI GO (7) has impressed in both local wins and is capable of measuring up to his more seasoned opposition.
Race 5 Selections: (1) Awesome Storm (2) White Hoof Bird (4) Heartening Flyer (6) Titan Pegasus
OLYMPIA (4) and PACIFIC EMPIRE (7) both trialled well against each other at the track on Tuesday are set to clash in the 1200m Starprint Public Company Thailand Trophy (Race 8). OLYMPIA (4) has displayed rapid improvement since crossing the causeway as he aims for his fourth successive victory. Leading throughout and scoring by decisive margins at his past three starts, Jose De Souza has ridden the gelding in all his victories and the combination will prove hard to beat again. PACIFIC EMPIRE (7) has won twice this year and was a winner over 1300m two starts back. The 5yo pulled up with a respiratory problem when placed over 1500m last start and looks suited with the drop in distance. QUICKEN AWAY (3) closed off well at his first start in Class 4 grade and the former Australian will strike at this level very soon. MAGNITUDE (6) and WECANDO (8) are both last start winners and can provide value for the trifectas.
