France Form Sheet – 5th December
Race Preview
C1 – PRIX DU MONT-SAINT-MICHEL – 2500m (a1 9/16m) – ALL WEATHER – Divised Handicap – Flat – EUR € 53.000
1. KOSAKENZIPFEL – Runner-up in a Quinté+ at Saint-Cloud before confirming his competitiveness at this level by winning here last time. Good value to follow up here under a penalty
2. SRIFANELOGREEN – Winner of a Quinté+ on heavy ground this summer but not able to remain competitive in a similar event and two Listed races since. Watch for now
3. MONSIEUR XOO – Confirmed at this level and has a good record at this venue too. Renews rivalry with KOSAKENZIPFEL (1) on 3kg better terms, so should play a leading role
4. UZEL – Won a 1900m Quinté+ in the spring and has remained competitive/consistent since. Tries this distance for the first time, though will have a say if as effective over this trip
5. JAAFAR – A new addition to the Adelaide Budka stable. Won a handicap off a similar mark at the start of the year for François Rohaut. Beaten by LORENZO DE MEDICI (8), held on form
6. PROMETEO – Trounced his opposition when winning his first start on this course off a mark of 34.5, while benefiting from Marie Vélon’s allowance. One to note having regained freshness
7. MARELIE – Beat her contemporaries off a 2kg lower mark two starts back but was unable to repeat that performance last time (6th) under a 3kg penalty. For lovers of outsiders
8. LORENZO DE MEDICI – Performs very well on PSF, winning three times from six outings on this surface. Ought to have a say in the finish again, having finished 2nd to KOSAKENZIPFEL (1) last time
9. BLUES ROCK – Made a good return in a Class 2 event at Fontainebleau then acquitted himself well in a recent Quinté+. Likely to make his presence felt
10. BAZOQUES – Winner of a handicap in a significantly lower grade at Lyon-Parilly during the spring but has never been able to repeat such a level performance. Others are preferred
11. HOLLYWOOD AFRICANS – Capable but unreliable sort who, two starts back, beat subsequent winner Pentaour but failed to confirm his competitiveness under a penalty last time. Place chance
only
12. IDEAL KING – Knows this track like the back of his hand. Already a winner over this track and trip but is held on recent form by LORENZO DE MEDICI (8) and JAAFAR (5). Upset potential
13. FLATTEN THE CURVE – Came very close to victory at this level during the summer, beaten only by Agile who has subsequently won at this level again. Competitive for a place on the podium
14. AL KHAMSIN – Winner at this level over a straight 1600m but has had no room for maneuver since. Has no more than a place chance
15. SEA BREAKER – Showed considerable promise this summer but has been largely disappointing since. Unexposed on PSF but this distance shouldn’t pose any issues – dark horse
16. MOON DREAM – Has been performing well in handicaps in the South-West but has a lot more to do in a race of this nature. Others preferred
Summary : KOSAKENZIPFEL (1) was a workmanlike winner of his last start over this course and distance and, even with a 3kg penalty to carry, is good value to preserve his invincibility on this surface. He will, however, have to thwart the likely challenge of LORENZO DE MEDICI (8), who was beaten only a neck by that rival last time, and MR XOO (3) who is 3kg better off with the selection on these revised weight terms. BLUES ROCK (9) is inconsistent but remains capable of getting into the picture at this level, as does consistent UZEL (4) in his first attempt at this distance. FLATTEN THE CURVE (13), PROMETEO (6) and HOLLYWOOD AFRICANS (11) complete the shortlist.
SELECTIONS
KOSAKENZIPFEL (1) – LORENZO DE MEDICI (8) – MONSIEUR XOO (3) – BLUES ROCK (9)
C2 – PRIX DE L’HOTELLERIE – 1500m (a7 1/2f) – ALL WEATHER – Condition Race – Flat – EUR € 30.000
1. BOLZANO – Ought to improve with the benefit of an introductory outing under his belt. Has more of a place chance than a winning one
2. SERQUIGNY – Did not go unnoticed when finishing 6th on debut and is likely to improve with the benefit of that experience
3. ESCUDO D’OURO – Confirmed the promise of his debut by finishing 2nd in a competitive race at Pau last time. Has leading claims
4. BAK’S WOOD – Seldom finishes far off the mark but has no more than a place chance. Others make more appeal
5. CAMBACERES – Finished 4th on debut in a very good field. Should have more to offer so could prove hard to beat
6. MEHLANGO – Has not gone unnoticed in either outing, finishing 5th on both occasions. Has a place chance here
7. SCAN FOR CHAMPAGNE – Did not go unnoticed in his last two outings, finishing 5th and 4th on those two occasions. Place chance
8. FERRARI FEVER – Runner-up in three of his last five starts, including his most recent outing on Chantilly PSF. Will be a factor
9. SOVER FAL – Consistent for the most part and improved to finish 2nd at Pornichet last month. Not taken lightly
10. EN PLEIN AIR – Ought to improve with the benefit of an introductory outing under his belt. Has more of a place chance than a winning one
11. MANOIR – Philippe Decouz-trained Birchwood gelding to be ridden on debut by Thomas Trullier. Not taken lightly
12. GRAND SCOOP – Well-bred and bought No Nay Never colt bought for €140,000. Not to be underestimated on debut under Rosario Mangione
13. REDPEARL – Birchwood gelding to be ridden on debut by Clément Guitraud for trainer Xavier Richard, who also owns
Summary : CAMBACERES (5) finished 4th in a much better field on debut and started favourite for the race on that occasion. He is open to any amount of improvement and is likely to be the overwhelming favorite here too. FERRARI FEVER (8) will try to put his experience to good use to pose a threat. Newcomer GRAND SCOOP (12) has an attractive pedigree and must be respected, despite his inexperience. ESCUDO D’OURO (3) completes the shortlist.

C3 – PRIX DE LA MAISON DE LA TRUIE QUI FILE – 2500m (a1 9/16m) – ALL WEATHER – Divised Handicap – Flat – EUR € 18.000
1. TYTAN – Rather efficient on this course and is not incapable of resurfacing in a race of this nature. Not takenlightly
2. RANNAN – Has already shone on this course so should not be hastily condemned following his recent failure
3. GOT FLIGHT – Seldom far off the mark and did register her last success on this track. Capable of staking a claim here
4. PHOENIX CHOP – Struggling to regain any form or spark the improvement needed to be competitive here, so unlikely to trouble the judge
5. JANAJKA – Has looked rather ordinary for some time now, so his chances are limited even at this level. Ignore
6. DARIYANGEL – Was not disgraced last time when finishing 7th at this venue last time. Could get into the picture
7. FAN ZONE – Unreliable but not incapable of getting into the picture judged on her best references. Hard to trust but is as hard to rule out
8. BELEAVE YOU – Struggling to regain any form or show signs of improvement needed to be competitive, so unlikely to trouble the judge
9. PRINCEDESCHAMPS – Unreliable but seldom finishes far off the mark on a going day. Hard to trust but is as hard to rule out
10. GOT SHINE – Unreliable but not incapable of getting into the picture judged on her best references. Hard to trust but is as hard to rule out
11. KENOR – Runner-up and three times 3rd (including consecutive recent outings) in his last five starts. One to beat
12. AMERICAN LILY – Winner two starts back but failed to remain competitive last time when only managing to finish 8th. Has more of a place chance
13. ARMORIGENE – Seldom finishes far off the mark and could get into the picture here but has no more than a place chance
14. SHALAWAY – Ran on well to finish 4th at Saint-Cloud last time and has claims here, in her first PSF start, on the evidence of that display. Keep safe
15. WALDENON – Unlucky not to have achieved a better result at Lyon La Soie last time and can benefit from his low weight to play a leading role here
16. ROUGE A SANG – Unreliable but seldom finishes far off the mark on a going day. Hard to trust but is as hard to rule out
Summary : Having finished in the first four in each of his last six outings, KENOR (11) sets the standard and constitutes a good base of support. SHALAWAY (14), in her first start on this surface, has shown enough on the turf to play a leading role here, along with WALDENON (15) who was unlucky not to have finished closer last time. GOT FLIGHT (3) also has the means to stake a claim in a race of this nature.

8. MAY DAY SPIRIT – Well beaten on her track and trip debut last month. Capable of improvement but others are much preferred
9. GRAND DREAM – Twelfth on her debut back in June at Compiegne over 1400m. Returns from a break and could need this run
10. PEMBA BAY – Disappointing last run when seventh. Did better in her first two starts and could bounce back to score trying the PSF
11. KOSLOVKA – Has improved with each run and seems to like this surface. Can fight out the finish once again
12. DATEJUST – Eighth over this course and distance on debut last month. Capable of improvement but others are preferred
13. DARLENE – Not disgraced when fourth on her debut back in October at Nancy. Capable of improvement and might play a minor role
14. TENDER THOUGHTS – A well beaten twelfth on debut over this course and distance last month. Needs to do more to win this race
15. ABSTRACT – A two-year-old filly by Wootton Bassett out of Ambivalence who is making her debut. Watch the betting
16. TEAM BUILDING – A two-year-old filly by Starspangledbanner out of Flarepath who is making her debut. Watch the betting
Summary : GOLIGHTLY (5) was only fifth on debut at this course on the turf. That form is probably good enough to win this race. ABSTRACT (15) is making her debut but the signs are there that she may be good enough to win. PEMBA BAY (10) tries the PSF and is clearly better than the last run would suggest. MAGIC PERSEVERANCE (4) only found one better on debut and can fight out the finish again.
