December 10 Selangor Preview by Mark Lydeamore

The inner track (Track Two) will be utilized for the nine race card this Sunday at the Selangor Turf Club commencing at 12.40pm. This track has been conducive to leaders and on speed performers in recent meetings so the speed maps should come into play when assessing the runners’ chances this weekend.

The inform Sharee Hamilton yard will be well represented again on Sunday with progressive performer DABBLE (3) targeting successive wins in the high grade 1075m Class 3 contest (Race 7). The 5yo never appeared to be in any danger at his first foray into Class 3 grade when leading throughout at this course and distance by 4.75 lengths. The main danger could be former New Zealand galloper, HEART OF FIRE (4) which was very impressive recording a 7.75 length victory at his local debut in Ipoh two weeks back. The 4yo raced a touch greenly over the concluding stages but was never in doubt after toying with the opposition. Promising mare, SKYLIGHT (8) returns from a freshen up after finishing 4th to DABBLE (3) on November 4 and looks a chance on best form. The 6yo won three times during her first local preparation and a forward showing would not surprise. MAGIC CAPTAIN (1) resumes from a five month break and has impressed at the trials in KL over the past two weeks. The 5yo is a fast beginner with a good first up record but is yet to win at Class 3 level. BRAVE WARRIOR (6) strikes a tough line up but can measure up on the upgrade following successive Class 4 wins while PERFECT (7) is always one to put in trifectas.

Leading trainer Richard Lines will stage a two pronged attack in the 1075m Class 4 event (Race 6) with STAR TALENT (6) and SYMBOL OF COURAGE (7). STAR TALENT (6) should benefit from his first run in almost a year when 3rd over 1100m here three weeks ago and will strip fitter. The 6yo is a reliable beginner who has won on the inner track previously and looks a chance despite the wide draw. SYMBOL OF COURAGE (7) is also a forward runner which has attracted market support in recent outings and might be hard to hold out from pole position. TERMS OF REFERENCE (3) at eleven years of age has never raced better posting a season best six wins this year. The gelding belied the betting drift before scoring comprehensively by 4.5 lengths at Ipoh last start. WATCH OUT BOSS (4) is only a moderate beginner but he has closed off well at his past two runs while former Kiwi galloper, RICH N POWERFUL (2) can improve second up.
