The Perak racing season draws to a close this Sunday with a ten race card commencing at 1.20pm.
Seven of the eight runners engaged in the high grade End Of Fixture Stakes (Race 7) are locally trained and the form coming out of the recent G1 Coronation Cup and the Charity Cup should provide a reliable form line for the 1400m contest.
Progressive performer TEOCHEW KID (3) caught the eye when flashing home to finish 2nd behind the inform Good Fight in the Charity Cup three weeks ago and is a two time winner at this track and distance. His quick turn of acceleration is a trait which has established himself as one of the most improved gallopers in the country and he looks the one to beat on best form. CHINA CAPTAIN (2) is proven at the grade and despite his failure in the recent cup races, his 1400m record places him in good stead. Promising mare, SKYLIGHT (5) was suited by a fast pace when resuming in KL last Sunday as she powered to the line a short head behind Dabble. The 6yo has won three times this season as she steps up to the 1400m for the first time. Stable mate, PROOF PERFECT (1) resumes from an unplaced effort in KL two months ago. That was his only run last preparation following a successful campaign where he posted successive wins at his first two local starts back in June and July. The 9yo has a good first up record and should not be omitted from calculations. RELAU STAR (4) caused an upset at big odds when successful in wet going back to November 5 before finishing just outside the placings in the Charity Cup last start. STRONG N POWERFUL (6) won at this track earlier in the year and can bounce back to form.

Trainer William Looi has a strong contingent fronting up for this Sunday’s meeting not only with Teochew Kid but also with HEARTS OF GOLD (2), which steps out in the 1600m Class 4 contest (Race 6). HEARTS OF GOLD (2) appeared a shade disappointing in the race won by Heart Of Fire here at the last meeting but the 6yo can quickly atone judging by his prior runs in Class 4 company. Following three runs this preparation, Selangor visitor MICHIKAWA (3) is poised to strike as he steps up to a more favorable journey. The 6yo won successive races back in June and despite settling back in his races, he does possess a quick turn of acceleration. SUSPICIOUS MIND (4) came close to breaking his Class 4 duck here three weeks back after closing off well to finish runner up in the same race won by Heart Of Fire. SILENT BOSS (1) can be hard to catch but his Class 4 record holds up well despite only scoring once over the mile previously from numerous starts. MAGIC KID (5) has made a vast improvement in recent weeks and will visit the Ipoh circuit for the first time.
