Hong Kong racing continues on Saturday (23 December) for a 10-race turf and dirt card.

The Caspar Fownes-trained four-year-old THE HEIR will be favoured to land his first local win when he steps out in the Class 3 Handicap over 1400m in the final race.

THE HEIR arrived with a track record of three wins out of seven starts and displayed promising form as a three-year-old named Watch The Clock in Sydney.

Since making his local debut in mid-November, THE HEIR has only found one too good in two starts over 1200m at Sha Tin: leading trainer Pierre Ng’s up-and-coming sprinting sensation, GALAXY PATCH. This by far is the strongest form line to bring to this week’s assignment, which will hold THE HEIR in good stead to break through third-up.

Another factor enhancing THE HEIR’S prospects this week is his proven performance at the seven furlongs. He has showcased his ability over this distance with two wins and a third-place finish in four attempts, while winning up to the mile. With plenty in his favour, THE HEIR looks a stand out.

Elsewhere, trainer Danny Shum can strike with SUPER LEGENDS in the Class 4 Handicap over 1400m restricted to three-year-olds.

SUPER LEGENDS won a race of this nature on debut in late September, coming with a barnstorming run to score by a neck over 1200m to Kaholo Angel. Second-up, Kaholo Angel turned the tables on SUPER LEGENDS by 2.25 lengths, and that form has looked okay since as Kaholo Angel went on to finish a half-length runner-up in Class 3 subsequently.

SUPER LEGENDS last raced in an open age Class 4 contest for the first time, where he raced well into sixth. He has since trialled well in blinkers, which go on for the first time this week, while returning to a race against his own age group holds him in good stead.
