Swift start can see Michikawa atone at Ipoh

Michikawa can atone on Saturday.
Six-year-old galloper Michikawa can atone on Saturday.

New Zealand-bred gelding, MICHIKAWA, is expected to atone for his most recent defeat when he competes in the 1400m Class 4 event at Ipoh on Saturday.

During his fourth run this preparation, MICHIKAWA stepped up to the mile and was somewhat unlucky over 1600m at the last meeting held here on December 17. The six-year-old began moderately and was trapped wide initially, narrowly beaten by SUSPICIOUS MIND.

MICHIKAWA will once again face SUSPICIOUS MIND on Saturday, and with a better start, the Frank Maynard-trained performer can reverse the outcome over the shorter trip.

Ningaloo on target for Ipoh success

The seven-year-old galloper, NINGALOO, seems well-positioned to increase his win tally when he participates in the 1100m Class 4 contest this Saturday.

Having secured successive minor placings over 1200m on the Ipoh circuit, NINGALOO will arrive sharper from his recent performance here on December 17. The Wayne Lim-trained gelding, after a six-week break, finished as the runner-up behind the formidable Kanthaka in soft going.

Known for his fast starts, NINGALOO, carrying 52.5kg, gains a considerable weight advantage over his main rivals.
