Two divisions of the 1100m Combined Class 2/3 will headline the eleven race program at Selangor Turf Club this Sunday with Course E in operation and rail out nine metres for the entire circuit.
From the trials in KL on Wednesday, TITAN PEGASUS (3) looked impressive and might be the horse to beat in the first division (Race 8). The 6yo recorded the fastest time for the morning session and will be second up following his last start 3rd behind the talented Shimi Go here on December 2. KONG FU PANDA (5) closed off well when finishing 3rd in the same trial and has not raced since his unplaced effort in the 1600m Perak G1 Coronation Cup in early November. The 5yo has won three from six when produced first up and his record over 1100m (5 wins from 9 starts) places him in good stead. MISTY SWIFT (4) was successful at his first two local starts and must be included again. The former Kiwi galloper was nailed on the post here a fortnight ago and can bounce back at this level on best from. THE MAREEBA MANGO (2) looked sharp in winning a trial here last month and is one to watch first up. The 7yo has been sparingly raced over the past couple of seasons but his local record of three wins from seven starts keeps him under notice. SKYDANCE ECLIPSE (1) resumes from a three month spell and after contesting some of the group ones last season, he may be one for the trifectas.
Race 8 Selections: 3 – 5 – 4 – 2
In the second division (Race 9), promising performer SUPER HAPPY (5) is on track for back to back wins. The 5yo returned to racing with immediate success when scoring over 1100m against Class 4 opposition here at the last meeting. The KC Tiang trained galloper takes on a harder lineup but is capable of measuring up to the high graders this year. SKYLIGHT (7) couldn’t quite see out the 1400m in the wet going on her home turf last start and is better suited dropping back to the sprint journey. SPEEDY MISSILE (1) has been closing off well in recent outings and is on the verge of breaking through in Malaysia. The 3kg claim for apprentice Seelan Raj will prove beneficial for the seven year old. TORNADO PEGASUS (6) is rarely far off the mark and the stable is in good form at the moment. BE BEE (3) resumes from a bleeding attack sustained in February last year but his recent trial suggests the gelding is back on track this preparation.
Race 9 Selections: 5 – 7 – 1 – 6
