January 14 Selangor Preview by Mark Lydeamore

Course A4 will be utilized for the ten race program at Selangor Turf Club on Sunday with the rail out 4m for the entire circuit.

WECANDO (5) has been a consistent performer for trainer Frank Maynard, missing the place once from four local starts. The nine year old’s record could have read better after suffering a neck defeat at his past two outings and despite the drop in distance, he might be the one to watch in the 1100m Class 4 contest (Race 6). JOKER NINE SIX (2) finally broke the local duck with a comprehensive victory over this track and distance on December 24 and is a chance for back to back wins. VILLAGE WARRIOR (8) was denied his first Malaysian success when demoted from first following a successful objection here on December 10. The four year old ran home resolutely behind the inform Valerie Pegasus last start and is due to break through. ELITE WATERGHOST (4) will strip fitter while SKYFALL (1) was a handy type in the high grades last preparation and is one to watch first up for ten months.

Race 6 Selections: (5) Wecando   (2) Joker Nine Six   (8) Village Warrior   (4) Elite Waterghost

LOVING BABE (4) will be attempting to keep his perfect local record in tact as he aims for the hat trick in the 1200m Class 5A event (Race 9). The seven year old scored on the inner track when resuming on December 10 but was arguably more impressive with a dominant display two weeks later in winning by 4.75 lengths. Apprentice Nuqman Faris sticks with the Johnny Lim trained galloper. HAPPY PRINCESS (3) has fared well in two local performances and has trained on well with a sharp trial here on Tuesday morning. OUD WOOD (8) caught the eye when finishing behind the place getters here on December 24 and is back to a winnable rating. ELITE SAINT (2) does possess a handy first up record and comes off a two month break. GOLDEN HORSE (1) should start improving on the downgrade and was placed in a Class 4 contest early last month.

HOLY ELEANOR (4) was the perennial bridesmaid when racing in Singapore posting nine runner up performances from twenty three starts. However, the mare struck immediately for the Simon Dunderdale stable when she led throughout for a comprehensive three length win over 1200m here on December 23. The seven year old can repeat the dose in the 1200m Class 5A (Race 10). In fact the place getters from that race, ALL WHITE (5) and XIONG FONG (3) are both capable of turning the tables. ALL WHITE (5) is a recent winner on Track Two while XIONG FONG (3) is coming off six minor placings on the bounce and is on the verge of breaking through in the country. SHANGANI (2) gained a late rails run when scoring at big odds last start and will carry a similar weight after the claim. FARDUS (10) rarely wins but he does drop 3.5kg back to the minimum.

Race 10 Selections: (4) Holy Eleanor   (5) All White   (3) Xiong Fong   (2) Shangani
