It should pay for bettors to follow the powerful stables of leading Western Cape trainers Candice Bass-Robinson and Justin Snaith on the 10-race card at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday 20 January.

Cape Town’s 10-race weekend fixture is littered with attractive betting propositions, including three runners from the former’s in-form yard as well as four “plums” representing Snaith’s operation.

Well-bred Var filly Babelicious attracted betting support on debut and ran accordingly, showing pace throughout over 1000m before being outrun late on by a rival with more experience to finish an encouraging second.

Bass-Robinson’s charge returns to the scene of that promising introduction in Race 3 and should, with the benefit of that run, improve to go one better under Aldo Domeyer.

Stable companion Lunch Money finished second in his only start over 1000m and, having recaptured his form reverting to sprints recently, dropping back to 1000m in Race 8 could also bring about a return to winning ways for this Rafeef gelding who will be ridden for the first time by visiting Durban-based jockey Sean Veale.

Similarly, Gimmethewaltz got her career back on track reverting to a sprint distance last time with a fast-finishing second over 1100m so the extra 100m on offer in Race 9 will suit this Gimmethegreenlight filly down to the ground.

Domeyer, who has ridden this filly twice for a win and a third, is back aboard the promising three-year-old who ought to bounce back to winning ways over a more suitable distance.

Snaith’s runners in Races 5 to 7 are good value to land a stable Pick 3, with Lickety Split (Race 5) and progressive three-year-old Magic Verse (Race 7) likely to bookend that popular TAB bet.

Royal Watch, Cosmic Event and Night Ruler form part of a competitive three-pronged Snaith attack in Race 6 and the stable ought to be confident of landing the spoils over 2000m.

Snaith’s red-letter day is likely to be completed by Itsrainingwilliam, who is the best-weighted runner in Race 10. This son of William Longsword has acquitted himself well recently in stronger company over 1400m and ought to be rewarded for his consistency with victory in the ‘lucky last’.
