Course A will be back in operation for the two days of racing at Selangor Turf Club this weekend with the rail back in the true position.
Saturday’s program will feature a 1500m Supreme B contest (Race 7) where the principal chances emanate from the group ones conducted over the past month. GOLDEN KING (6) was runner up in the two December staying features and will get his chance to atone for his short head defeat in the G1 Penang Gold Cup (2000m) on December 30. Prior to that the 5yo finished 2nd in the G1 Piala Emas Sultan Selangor (2000m) and looks a genuine chance to break the ten month winning drought. PASIR PINJI (1), which produced a season best six wins last year including the G1 Selangor Gold Cup, will be searching for redemption following his most recent defeat over the mile. Apprentice Tuan Ammar has ridden the 7yo on five occasions for three wins and the pair have been reunited for Saturday’s contest. LEOPARD ECLIPSE (4) also placed twice in group one company last year and wasn’t disgraced when finishing 5th in the G1 Penang Gold Cup. The 7yo received a midrace check but recovered to close of well in finishing five lengths behind his stable mate and winner, Cheval Blanc. AHTIMS KLIS (3) failed to back up in the Penang feature but six days prior she displayed her familiar turn of foot when 2nd over the mile. CHINA CAPTAIN (2) is coming off a 1400m at Ipoh against weaker company but is a worthy trifecta chance. QUICKEN AWAY (5) defied the class rise in chalking successive wins last month and has recaptured his best form since arriving from Australia.
Race 7 Selections: (6) Golden King (1) Pasir Pinji (4) Leopard Eclipse (3) Ahtims Klis
The 1100m Class 4A (Race 5) looks an even contest with a couple of recent arrivals from Singapore to feature prominently in the event. NAGAS KING (3), formerly known as Petrograd, has a chance to break the local duck judging by his second up run when he came close to beating progressive performer Super Happy. The 4yo is a Class 4 winner in Singapore and will have the services of leading apprentice R Nuqman. Another former Kranji galloper, INFINITE WISDOM (10) returns from a bleeding attack sustained in May and he looked sharp in a trial win on January 6. The 6yo has won first up previously and could provide the value. LUPIN (7) resumes from a three month break and has been trialling well at Ipoh in recent weeks. Now prepared by T Asogan, the 6yo is versatile and is a winner over this track and distance previously. BUSINESS MASTER (2) is a former New Zealand galloper which trialled well here on Tuesday and is one to watch first up for the HY Cheng stable. NAUGHTY KID (6) was a beaten favourite last time and was given a quiet trial on Tuesday. The 7yo can spring a surprise on best form.
