RACE 1 C5 (B) 1400M
The locally trained SUNNY STAR (1) can return to winning form following his fast finishing 2nd when beaten a head at the Gold Cup meeting last start. The 8yo was well supported in the market that day and two of his three wins have been recorded over this track and distance. The 3kg will benefit also. LEEDSTHEWAY (3) failed to fire in Ipoh a fortnight ago and pay to go on his prior run when he flashed home from a rearward position (11th @ 800m) to finish 3rd in that same race contested by SUNNY STAR (1). MYSTICAL STAR (2) normally likes to settle back and run home which he did when placed 3rd at big odds over the mile here two starts back. The 10yo raced more forward at Ipoh and received every chance when 4th over 1400m. PENANG GENERAL (5) has scored only once in forty starts but showed vast improvement when he powered home to finish a short head 2nd over 1600m.
Race 1 Selections: (1) Sunny Star (3) Leedstheway (2) Mystical Star (5) Penang General
RACE 2 C5 (A) 1200M
Despite his last start failure, BIG POWER (3) strikes a winnable race with the drop in distance and the aid of a 4kg claim for apprentice N Shahronnizam. A win over 1100m prior to that places him in good stead to immediately atone. YES BOSSY (1) is the likely leader and has the services of S Ruzaini with the 59kg top weight. FLYING SPIDER (4) is also a quick beginner but is one paced and relies heavily on a genuine tempo to be competitive. However, the small field will suit him. GAIN ECLIPSE (5) closed off well when placed for the new stable here on December 9 and looks a trifecta chance on the 52kg minimum, less the claim.
Race 2 Selections: (3) Big Power (1) Yes Bossy (4) Flying Spider (5) Gain Eclipse
RACE 3 C4 (A) 1100M
This race was narrowed down to two major hopes, namely GHOST MARI (1) and VETRI (4). A slight leaning to VETRI (4) due to his excellent statistic of three wins from four starts at the track and distance. The 10yo saves his best form for this track and is meting weaker opposition compared to recent starts. GHOST MARI (1) was far from disgraced in a Class 3 contest in KL last Sunday when finishing 4th, beaten 3.5L. The 4yo is capable of taking out a Class 4 race and if he can handle the six day backup, he could take some beating. SPIDERMAN (2) received every chance after leading at Ipoh two weeks ago but is rarely far away and will take up a forward position early. LEGEND WAR (3) looks better suited over a longer trip as he continues his descent down the ratings.
Race 3 Selections: (4) Vetri (1) Ghost Mari (2) Spiderman (3) Legend War
