Trainer Stuart Ferrie runs RED ROSES TOO in the TRACK & BALL GAMING FM 94 HANDICAP at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Monday 29 January 2024.

Hollywoodbets Scottsville has an eight race Monday meeting and the highest rated race is the 6th, a MR 94 Handicap over 1200m for fillies and mares.

Red Roses Too’s three wins have all been over this distance and two of them have been at this course. She was tired over further last time but it did not work out so will relish the step back to this trip. In her penultimate start she went close over course and distance, beaten 1,70 lengths by the talented Get In The Q and she should be right there again. Oriental Bouquet has gone close in a sales race feature before and has some class. That close feature race second was over 1300m at Hollywoodbets Greyville, so this tough 1200m trip will be right up her alley and she can bounce back to form. Acacia’s Blossom has a chance on formas she only has 1,20 lengths to find on Red Roses Too and if apprentice claims are ignored she is half-a-kilogram better off. Epic View was highly tried as a juvenile and was never disgraced so is an interesting runner back over the course and distance of her only win. Bonne Bouche has a fine record at HWB Scottsville and must be a runner too.

In the first race over 1500m Chichicastenango is improving and is drawn well over a suitable trip. Elusive Belle has shown ability and will likely enjoy the step back down in trip. Tannen Princess wasn’t disgraced second time out and should relish the step up in trip being by Querari out of a mare by Lomitas, who has produced an Arc winner). 8 ACCUMULATE has shown some ability and will enjoy the trip. Foreign Lady is capable of popping up.

In the second race over 1000m Kennedy had some good form in the strong centre of Cape Town and won on her KZN debut and she can follow up off a merit rating that is now a mere 70. War Empress is in fine form and although getting a four point raise for her second place finish last time she should make a bold bid. Witchwood has a fine record over 1000m and should be right there. Aisling is not far off War Empress on form. Rapid Fire has not been disgraced against some fair sorts and should also have a chance.

In the third race over 1600m Foreshore is talented and this is an easier task than last time when a close fourth in the Gr 3 Flamboyant Stakes. Celtic Beauty won well second time out and is drawn in pole over a suitable step up in trip. Masccherina won a good race second time out and should relish the step up in trip and has a plum draw off a reasonable merit rating. Petit Verdot is consistent and should be in the shake up. Minogue is talented and well regarded but she was 7,15 lengths behind Foreshore in the Flamboyant Stakes and now has another wide draw.

In the fourth race over 1600m El Rey Viene might prefer shorter but is knocking on the door and should be running on at a tough course which will suit him. The Shepherd is talented and goes for a hattrick but does have a tricky draw and a three point raise to overcome. Golden peace won well here in April but this is his second run after an eight month layoff. Pragmatist will be right there if able to reproduce his last run at HWB Greyville over this trip and he is well drawn. El Dante is talented and is knocking on the door but he does have a wide draw which makes it tough for him as a front-runner.

In the fifth race over 1750m Pongola will enjoy this track and trip and the form of his last run has been franked. Political Party is 1.5kg better off with Pongola for a 0,60 length beating at Greyville, but he does have another wide draw Scampton won well over 1600m here last time and off a four point higher mark is now drawn in pole over a trip he will get. Ideal Gift is in good form and being by Ideal World she should be coming into her own. Justforthepenny won well last time on the and has won at Scottsville before.

In the seventh over 1400m Iron Will is an honest sort who is distance suited and he looks to be off a competitive mark and he has a fair draw. Galaxy Explorer should enjoy the course and distance and the form of his last run has been franked. Son Of Silk has been kept to the poly since moving from Cape Town but if reproducing his Cape Town turf form he should be right there. Lake Como is in good form but does have a wide draw. Joshua Hotsnake is not far off Lake Como, but does have a wide draw.

In the eighth over 1400m Qanabi is knocking hard and has a plum draw over an ideal trip. Sting Ray is talented and distance suited and is only three points higher for her win last time out. Fairy Tripp won her maiden well over 1600m here and should be thereabouts. Fort J’adore has only her second start at Scottsville but if reproducing her best she could be in the shake up. Rafeef’s Choice will go close if able to reproduce her best Cape Town run over this trip.
