The inner track (Track Two) is back in operation since December 10 with the 1075m Class 3 contest (Race 8) being the high grade event on the ten race card. Three winners on the nine race program led throughout that day while the other six were placed on the speed in the top four from the half mile. Track Two has always been conducive to on speed performers and front runners so a diligent review of the speed maps can assist in assessing the form this Sunday.
A couple of last start winners on the class upgrade can figure prominently here including LIM’S BETTERREADY (9), which has built a handy local record of four wins from seven starts. The 6yo looked impressive when resuming with a win over 1100m a fortnight ago and is capable of scoring again at his Class 3 debut. DABBLE (1) was posted outside the leader from a wide draw here last Sunday before weakening in a Supreme A contest. The 5yo meets a weaker lineup this time around and is undefeated in two starts over this track and distance. SURE WILL DO (4) makes his Malaysian debut for the Richard Lines stable and has been trialling well in recent weeks. The 7yo is first up since a bleeding attack in March last year but has scored twice when resuming previously. The other winner on the upgrade is WECANDO (7) which is yet to miss a place (2 wins) in four runs locally for the Frank Maynard yard. The 9yo has won at Class 3 level in Singapore previously and appears to be back in form. LIM’S DENALI (10), another former Singapore galloper debuting for trainer Lawson Moy, wasn’t overly taxed in a recent trial and will be coming off a six month break.
Race 8 Selections: (9) Lim’s Betterready (1) Dabble (4) Sure Will Do (7) Wecando
Even though HOLY ELEANOR (7) received every conceivable chance as a beaten favorite here on January 14, the mare has the capacity to bounce back in the 1075m Class 5A event (Race 9). The 7yo finally broke the maiden tag at her 24th career start which was her Malaysian debut over 1200m on December 23. IRON SAMURAI (5) resumes from a short break and was a winner first up last preparation. The 5yo displayed vast improvement last year and was successful on the inner track back in November. PACIFIC PRIME (8) should break through in the country soon and put up his best performance last start when 3rd over 1100m here on December 2. The 7yo goes well fresh and the KC Tiang yard is starting to produce winners following a treble at last Sunday’s meeting. Both WINNER POWER (3) and ZILFIKAR (4) are expected to perform better back in Class 5 grade.
