PERAK RACE PREVIEW SUN 3 MARCH

RACE 1 C5 (A) 1600M

MASTER JIANGMEN (5) has not won since April 2021 but can break the winning drought, judging by his fast-finishing 2nd over this journey last Sunday when second up. EKRAAR PHOENIX (4) is only a moderate beginner but has been closing off well in recent outings and will break the maiden tag soon. The 6yo came from a rearward position to finish 3rd here last weekend. INTROIT (6) has been successful five times over the mile and appears well-weighted on the seven-day backup. KING RAVANA (1) is looking to recapture his best form with a good record over this journey, plus his chances will be enhanced if the going is wet. HELLO MONDAY (7) continues to race consistently, coming off two minor placings in succession.

Race 1 Selections: (5) Master Jiangmen (4) Ekraar Phoenix (6) Introit (1) King Ravana

RACE 2 C5 (B) 1600M

Following three starts this preparation, MAGICAL PARK (7) will be reaching peak fitness and is on the quick backup after finishing 4th to MAZANZE (5) last Sunday. MAZANZE (5) broke the 13-month winning drought and looked impressive in saluting by 2.25 lengths. The 9yo is capable of back-to-back wins now that he has rediscovered that winning feeling. COUNTRY LAW (8) is a twenty-start maiden who continues to improve and will drop 2.5kg from his 3rd to MAZANZE (5) last start. BLACK TAIPAN (4) showed little interest in KL last run but was a winner at this track/distance prior to that. SILVER JOY (9) likes to jump and run and will be prominent for a long way.

Race 2 Selections: (7) Magical Park (5) Mazanze (8) Country Law (4) Black Taipan

RACE 3 C4 (A) 1600M

HEARTS OF GOLD (3) returned from a seven-week break with a fast-finishing 2nd over 1300m here on February 4 and is back to his best form. NORTHERN STAR (2) posted successive victories towards the end of last year and will find this an easier assignment compared to his first-up unplaced effort in the 1200m Wilyah Silver Bowl three weeks ago. STRONG N POWERFUL (1) has won 2 from 4 in this grade, which keeps him under notice with the top weight of 59kg. AMORE AMORE (5) faded out after working hard midrace last start and is one to follow with luck in running third up this campaign. THOUSAND MILE EYE (4) remains a maiden but is coming off minor placings in Class 4 company.

Race 3 Selections: (3) Hearts Of Gold (2) Northern Star (1) Strong N Powerful (5) Amore Amore

RACE 4 C5 (A) 1300M

FAST AND SUPER (2) has won 4 from 7 at Class 5 level and despite finishing 3rd as a beaten favorite here last week, can bounce back over the longer trip. QIJI LOVE (3) resumes from a two-month break and looked sharp in winning a KL trial two weeks ago. DISCRETELY RED (1) failed by a head at his first Class 5 run and his chances will be enhanced if a wet track prevails. LANKARAN (8) has met with betting support recently and looked a shade disappointing here last week. The 6yo can be forgiven as he searches for his first win in the country. If there is market support for THAI BAHT (7), he can be followed with confidence.

Race 4 Selections: (2) Fast And Super (3) Qiji Love (1) Discretely Red (8) Lankaran

RACE 5 C5 (B) 1300M

Numerous chances in this low-grade affair where 10yo mare KIPEH (6) has been a model of consistency and can bounce back to winning form. ULURU (5) drops back to the “B” division and is drawn well enough to be given every opportunity. YULONG DREAM (12) is threatening to win again with some encouraging performances recently and looks the best of the lightweights. PENANG MAN (2) goes up 8.5kg from successive wins on his home track recently but the winning hat trick is still possible. TRAFALGAR (1) usually gives away a big start in most of his races but is capable of scoring on his best form.

Race 5 Selections: (6) Kipeh (5) Uluru (12) Yulong Dream (2) Penang Man

RACE 6 C4 (A) 1300M

CLARTON TREASURE (1) defeated STRETCHY FOUR (10) by 2.5 lengths here a month ago and the pair are likely to run the quinella again in a rematch this Sunday. STRETCHY FOUR (10), successful in his first couple of Malaysian runs, started favorite that day and a result reversal would not surprise. CLARTON TREASURE (1) draws a fraction deeper this time around but is a proven weight carrier and will be hard to beat again. NOVA FACTOR (4) broke through in this grade three runs back and possesses a good record with 5 wins over the 1300m trip. BIG MONKEY (11) received no luck at his first start against Class 4 company in KL when he was caught wide outside the leaders but had the audacity to finish 2nd behind the inform Pacific Thunder. The 4yo drops 4kg plus after the claim and looks a chance with the featherweight. TRUDY (7) is racing well but has the outside barrier to overcome.

Race 6 Selections: (10) Stretchy Four (1) Clarton Treasure (4) Nova Factor (11) Big Monkey

RACE 7 C5 (A) 1200M

ROCK ME EASY (12), with a 3kg claim for apprentice Haikal Hanif, has been knocking on the door following three minor placings in a row and should prove hard to beat. Stablemate BAKUTEH (5) will strip fitter second up and looks a chance at only his second run in Class 5 grade. FLYING BABY (1) produced his familiar turn of foot when resuming in KL a fortnight ago, recording an easy 3-length win. The 9yo rises 2.5kg in the weights. HOSAYLIAO (11) visits Ipoh for the first time and was a KL winner two runs back. STORM TO WIN (8) finished runner-up to HOSAYLIAO (11) in that race and backs up from his 1100m victory here last Sunday.

Race 7 Selections: (12) Rock Me Easy (5) Bakuteh (1) Flying Baby (11) Hosayliao

RACE 8 C5 (B) 1200M

FLYING SPIDER (3) should be rewarded for his consistency as he strikes a winnable race in the lower grade of Class 5. Ex Mat Rock, ex Sharp Dressed Man, FLYING SPIDER has had as many name changes as career wins and backs up from his head-to-head 2nd behind Storm To Win here seven days ago. YOU ARE SPECIAL (10) hasn’t been far away recently and is a chance on the lightweight. BEIHAI TURBO (2) finally strikes a decent barrier and should improve on recent efforts while TILSWORTH MALI (5) and PURE PERFECTION (8) are also trifecta hopes.

Race 8 Selections: (3) Flying Spider (10) You Are Special (2) Beihai Turbo (5) Tilsworth Mali
