Talented three-year-old SILO has arrived in Hong Kong and is now ‘in the system.’ He is not alone; he is joined by two other former Kranji-trained three-year-olds who are continuing their racing careers there.
The two horses who’ve departed Kranji for Hong Kong may not be names easy to recall, as they both only had one and two starts start apiece. However, both won their Restricted Maidens impressively and seemed destined for greater achievements.
The first of these was the Dan Meagher-trained, Falcon Racing-owned SEPTEMBER, who won in a 1100m Restricted Maiden race on the Polytrack by 1.8 lengths at the first meeting of the year on January 6.
The other horse may trigger more memories, given the way he burst onto the scene back in mid-October last year. It was trainer Jerome Tan and the Happy Baby Stable combining with KUNGFU HERO.
KUNGFU HERO smashed his rivals on debut with a 5.75-length win. Apart from being visually impressive, he also set a new Class record of 1 min 9.1secs over the 1200m Long Course in the Restricted Maiden race, shaving 0.15secs off Time Odyssey’s old record set in 2015.
Both horses are owned by the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Racing Club, so they will carry the name ‘Young’ followed by something. SEPTEMBER has been sent to trainer Douglas Whyte, while Tony Cruz has been tasked with training KUNGFU HERO.
