SELANGOR RACE PREVIEW SUN 10 MARCH
Course A4 will be in operation for the ten-race program at Selangor Turf Club this Sunday, commencing at 12:45 PM.
RACE 1 CLASS 5B 1200M (5), MONDAY – a reliable beginner suited dropping back to 1200m and looked sharp in his trial win during the week. (9), AYAAN – has been descending down the points scale and is ready to strike following his last start 2nd over 1175m on the inner track. (1), WAIMEA – has been freshened and from pole position, should receive every opportunity to bounce back. (7), GOOD WARRIOR – posted successive minor placings in January prior to receiving a slight check late when unplaced at Ipoh. Can improve with luck from the outside barrier.
RACE 2 CLASS 5B 1200M (7), LIM’S SPHERE – is back to a winnable rating and gets his chance to break the 19-month winning drought. (2), BIG CHINA – scored twice over the middle distances last campaign and will strip fitter second up. The 4yo received no luck after being caught wide when resuming. (9), LEGACY FIGHTER – has displayed rapid improvement recently, including his maiden win at huge odds here on January 28. (10), KUBERA’S CHIEF – has had numerous chances carrying light weight at his past few outings but was placed over this track/distance a month ago.
RACE 3 TAB4RACING STAKES 1600M (1), MOMENT OF JUSTICE – caught the eye with a fast-finishing 2nd at his first run back in Class 5 and will benefit from the apprentice claim. (5), MGR ROCKET – was a beaten favorite last time but still looks a chance on best form despite the wide gate. (6), SHYLOCK – closed off well at his past two starts finishing runner-up on both occasions and deserves a win. (3), HAPPY MAGIC – is rarely far off the mark and looked sharp in a trial here on Tuesday.
RACE 4 4RACING – SLTC COLLABORATION STAKES 1500M (4), BORN TO WIN – the ex-Singapore galloper resumes from a 13-month spell and looks on track following his trial on February 20. The 8yo finished runner-up to the highly rated Street Of Dreams back in November 2022 and is one to watch first up for the Wayne Lim stable. (6), CONGAREE – does tend to take his time to wind up when giving away big starts but his closing sectionals recently keep him under notice. (7), THE GENERAL – first up since winning his maiden over 1400m in December but his two efforts prior in Class 4 company suggest he is capable of defying the class rise. (5), MAGNITUDE – a fast beginner who appeared a fraction disappointing last time after casting a plate. May pay to forgive.
RACE 5 GLOBAL RACING NETWORK STAKES 1100M (2), ANTIPODEAN – this highly promising 3yo dominated a field of maidens on debut and strikes a low-quality Class 4 contest. Should rise through the grades. (8), IRON SAMURAI – yet to win in six tries at this grade but has no doubt improved in recent months so a forward showing would not surprise. (3), SIMLONG BEACH – draws deep but has the pace to lead and will be prominent for a long way. (6), HARVEYWALLBANGER – posted successive Class 5 wins at Ipoh and is proven at this level.
RACE 6 4RACING SOUTH AFRICA STAKES 1100M (2), LIM’S BETTERREADY – a winner of 4 from 8 in Malaysia and should prove hard to beat back in Class 4 company. (10), LIM’S UNIQUE – a handy sit-sprinter racing in consistent form. The 7yo defeated a handy Class 4 lineup over 1400m last month and has been freshened. (8), OLYMPIA – a speedy customer with a good record at the track/distance (2 wins from 3 starts). The 6yo will be searching for a forward position after barrier rise and looks a genuine chance. (4), SACRED TONIC – was a model of consistency last preparation which included an 1100m win in October. Resumes from a four-month break.
RACE 7 BETMAKERS STAKES 1100M (7), XANTHOS – capable of breaking through in Class 4 grade and should be primed fourth up in what appears to be an open contest. (5), WINNER’S EUPHORIA – no luck when caught wide throughout last start but was well-supported in prior runs and can bounce back without surprising. (3), STAR TALENT – is much better than his recent form indicates and should improve dropping back to the “B” division of Class 4. (1), DOCTOR GINGER – a fast beginner whose form has tapered off recently but also descends back to the Class 4 “B” division.
RACE 8 GLOBAL TOTE TROPHY 1100M (3), SHANG CHI – created a big impression at his first preparation in the country, chalking a winning hat trick prior to sustaining a bleeding attack on September 16. The 6yo still managed to finish 2nd on that occasion and trialed well behind smart mare Xena here last month. (1), TITAN PEGASUS – looks the leader in the race and his Class 3 record of 3 wins from 4 starts places him in good stead. (7), HIGH WATER – won by a short head in a Metro A contest two weeks ago and looks a good chance at the weights. (2), SPEEDY MISSILE – a moderate beginner who does tend to give away big starts. Needs a solid pace to feature but he has been closing off well in recent outings.
RACE 9 CLASS 5A 1200M (4), LOVING BABE – racing well since joining the BT Lim stable with 2 wins from 4 starts in Malaysia. Not disgraced when beaten over 1200m last time and should atone. (7), UPTOWN GIRL – will pick up a Class 5 race very soon and gets her chance despite going down as a beaten favorite in her past couple of runs. (10), SAFE JOURNEY – has attracted market support in the past and looked sharp in its trial on Tuesday. (6), NINGALOO – returns to home turf and is ready to strike at his third run back in this grade.
RACE 10 CLASS 5A 1200M (1), DRAGON RYKER – third up and appears a winning chance on the downgrade. (2), HOWL – resumes from a three-month break. The 10yo raced well in Class 4 company last preparation and was placed at his first Class 5 start prior to spelling. (6), HELLO BOSS – caught wide over the mile last start and is suited dropping back to the 1200m. (4), REMO MAMA – can be hard to catch at times but has a good record on wet tracks.
