Jockey Richard Fourie looks set for another good day at Fairview on Friday.
He has a decent ride in the form of Splicethemainbrace in the feature race on the day, the East Cape Fillies Nursery (Listed) over 1200m, and also has a good chance to win Race 4 with On The Guest List, Race 5 with Grazinginthegrass and with Joy And Peace in Race 6.
Splicethemainbrace is unbeaten in two starts, having narrowly won her debut over 800m and followed that up with an impressive two-length win over Magdala in a 1000m race.
On debut, the Mast Of My Fate had a battle with rival in this Happy Holly over the final 200m and only got up on the line to win by a short head.
There is a 2.5kg swing in favour of Splicethemainbrace this time around as Happy Holly was ridden by a 2.5kg claiming apprentice on that occasion.
Happy Holiday did go one better in her next start but was only a short-head winner over Magical River.
That rival is running in this race and was beaten 3.60 lengths by Alan Greeff-trained Splicethemainbrace in her next start.
Splicethemainbrace, when winning her second start, was caught out a long way back early on but made continuous progress and scored impressively despite hanging. The extra 200m this time will definitely suit her.
Joy And Peace in Race 6, the Oaks Plate over 1800m, has ability but she has been costly to follow so far.
The Master Of My Fate filly has been quickening late over shorter distances and it has been a common belief that the best of her will be seen when stepped up in distance. She gets that opportunity this time.
On The Guest List looked an unlucky loser behind rival Trip To Barberton when they met on 16 February and was expected to easily turn the tables when they met again on 1 March. But Trip To Barberton won again, making all the running.
The drop to 1600m in Race 4, a MR 66 Handicap for fillies and mares, could bring out the best in On The Guest List as well as revenge.
Fourie was not seen at his best on Grazinginthegrass last time out. He was caught too far back and did well to finish as close as he did at the line.
Grazinginthegrass has been at his very best over 1600m so can bounce back to score being weighted to win.
