Unbeaten colt, STORM BOY, is poised to go off as the shortest-priced 5-million-dollar Golden Slipper favorite in 20 years at Rosehill Racecourse, Australia, on Saturday.
The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Justify colt has been sensational in winning four from four so far. Interestingly, he has only faced two of his rivals on raceday before.
STORM BOY drawing barrier two puts him in the perfect position to control the race tactically, placing him ahead of his main rivals, SWITZERLAND and HAYASUGI, as they turn for home.
SWITZERLAND is the other unbeaten colt in the field, and he took care of four Golden Slipper rivals in the Todman Stakes. That race has proven to be a reliable form line, with Silver Slipper winner, Straight Charge, and Golden Gift winner, Shangri La Express, in behind.
Riff Rocket set to launch in the Guineas
Quality three-year-old gelding, RIFF ROCKET, is the warm favourite to win this year’s $750,000 Group 1 Rosehill Guineas over 2000m on Saturday.
Being third-up into his current preparation, RIFF ROCKET is aiming to bounce back to his winning ways after an unfortunate run as the favourite in the Australian Guineas at Flemington at the beginning of the month.
On that occasion, he was slow to begin, crowded for room, and checked after the start, then made a strong late bid, finishing in third position.
RIFF ROCKET will have to fend off his main rival, TOM KITTEN, who has been building well towards this race in three runs this preparation. TOM KITTEN was luckless in the Randwick Guineas, getting badly held up at a crucial stage.
