Three Group One winners are set to clash in the 1797m Stayer Stakes A contest (Race 5) at Selangor Turf Club this Sunday as racing continues on the inner track (Track Two) for the fourth week in a row.

TRUMPY (3) has recaptured his best form since crossing the causeway with two wins from three Malaysian starts, including his first G1 victory in the 2000m Perak Derby last month. The eight-year-old was dominant in his Derby victory, scoring by three lengths and looks the one to beat.

Last year’s Selangor Gold Cup winner PASIR PINJI (2) has retained good form this season and has scored at the track and trip previously. The seven-year-old will benefit from the apprentice claim and is coming off a solid 3rd placing behind Berry Bliss over the mile on April 14.

In that same race, KING’S COMMAND (1) reeled off a fast sectional to finish 2nd, beaten 2.75L when produced second up. The seven-year-old had no luck when first-up for just under two years and will be primed third-up this campaign.

2022 Selangor Gold Cup winner, BLACK THORN (4), displayed his signature burst of acceleration with a fast-finishing 3rd in the Perak Derby, a half-length in front of GOLDEN KING (5), who ran 4th and can cause a minor upset despite the outside draw.

Trainer Tiang Kim Choi is experiencing one of his best starts to a racing season with 16 winners, striking at 18%, and currently lies equal third on the premiership.

Stable runner HAPPY PRINCESS (7) is a chance to break through in Class 4 company for the first time when she lines up in Race 7. The five-year-old mare broke her maiden tag in a Class 5 event, defeating subsequent winner Tangesh back in March and is coming off successive minor placings since the upgrade.

RS DIAGO (4) will be suited by the drop back to 1020m and also back on home turf while LIMITLESS VENTURE (9) was placed at big odds two runs back and appears well-weighted.

CAORUNN received no luck when checked in the home straight here a fortnight ago and has the top weight and outside draw to contend with.

The form of VETRI (10) doesn’t look inspiring on face value but with a clean beginning, he has dropped in the ratings and carries a featherweight after the claim.
