SELANGOR RACE PREVIEW SAT 18 MAY

The Supreme B contest will headline the eight-race program at Selangor Turf Club on Saturday, with the inner track (Track Two) in operation for the fifth week in succession.

The 1150m high-grade event (Race 6) features a few progressive types, including the in-form SUPER HAPPY (2), who is targeting four wins on the bounce. Coming off an impressive win when first-up here two weeks ago, the 5-year-old should continue his rise through the grades.

ANSU (5), runner-up behind smart 3-year-old Antipodean last start, has been competitive at this level and has the capacity to overcome the wide gate.

Promising mare XENA (1) contested a couple of group races last year and possesses a quick turn of speed. She will strip much fitter second-up from the break.

MAGIC TURBO (6) has been competitive in Class 3 company and should strike at this level in the near future.

Race 6 Selections: (2) SUPER HAPPY, (5) ANSU, (1) XENA, (6) MAGIC TURBO

PACIFIC FLASH (1) can break his Malaysian duck in the 1150m Class 4A (Race 5), judging by his recent form, which includes a fast-finishing second (beaten by one length) behind Super Happy on May 5. On the downgrade, the 7-year-old looks ideally placed to win at his fourth local start.

JOJU (4) is a consistent performer with two wins on the inner track, but her victories are few and far between. It will be no surprise to see the mare atone for her narrow defeat here three weeks ago.

FLYING BABY (7) has proven himself at this level before, while BATTLESTAR (3) is an on-pace runner with a handy record in the grade.

Race 5 Selections: (1) PACIFIC FLASH, (4) JOJU, (7) FLYING BABY, (3) BATTLESTAR

Former Singapore galloper ALWAYS INNOCENT (6) attracted heavy market support on his local debut and can also atone in the 1150m Class 5A (Race 4). Winless for just over three years, ALWAYS INNOCENT (6) has chalked up ten minor placings since then, and from the good draw with the benefit of an apprentice claim, the drought can be broken.

MONDAY (2) has been a model of consistency and is on a six-day backup, while COSMIC SANDS (5) is a fast beginner who seems to attract market support regularly.

THE STORM (4) also possesses early pace and should be prominent throughout.
