Get ready to toss the confetti over Fourie

Jockey Richard Fourie has decimated his rivals in his quest to be this season’s Champion Jockey and the only questions he has yet to answer is will he set a record, and what will his final total land on?

He once again has a card of good rides at Fairview on Friday but the two that do stand out are Confetti in Race 1 and Three Rocks in Race 7.

Confetti is backing up quickly after finishing runner-up on debut just a week ago.

This Canford Cliffs filly found betting support on debut and but for a tardy start and signs of inexperience in-running she may well have beaten the odds-on rival Project Runway.

That was a fine debut on the Polytrack

It is back to the turf on Friday in this Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1200m and she should go one better.

Heavenly Blue filly Three Rocks has won seven of her 10 starts and is clearly the runner to beat in Race 6, the Milkwood Stakes (Listed) over 1000m.

All seven of those wins have been up the straight at Fairview, with her only track defeat coming when beaten by a rival in this, Paris Lass, when Three Rocks made her debut.

Three Rocks is clearly at her very best over 1200m, so she will need luck in running over this minimum distance.

There are a number of speedy rivals in this big field so Fourie will need to be at his best as well in order to navigate a passage through the field and will have to time his run to perfection.

The other feature race on the day is Race 6, the Fairview 1400, and trainer Gavin Smith sends out reliable Cherry Ano.

This game four-year-old gelding has been very good of late, winning three of his last four starts, with a narrow win last time out over Grazinginthegrass, advertising how well he is at the moment.

Jockey Calvin Habib is two from two on Cherry Ano and the gelding is also two from two over this particular track and trip.

In Race 2, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1200m, Five Star Magic catches the eye as a likely each-way bet. She is proving costly to follow but reunites with jockey Robert Khathi, and he knows how to get the best out of her.

The course and distance will also suit Five Star Magic.
