SELANGOR RACE PREVIEW SUN 2 JUNE
With Track Two in operation for the seventh week in a row, another challenging program awaits punters with a nine-race program commencing at 1.45pm this Sunday.
The card features a 1150m Metro A contest (Race 7), and trainer Frank Maynard is well represented with in-form gallopers WECANDO (3) and TAU KEH SOH (8), who are both coming off some handy form lines.
WECANDO (3) has been a model of consistency with two recent victories recorded on the inner track and will be freshened up after a last start win on April 21. Stable mate TAU KEH SOH (8) has chalked up a couple of Class 4 wins this year and wasn’t disgraced finishing just outside the placings in a Supreme B contest last start. The 5-year-old mare is on the rise and looks well placed on the 52.5kg.
MAJESTIC WAY (6) was slowly away and was never a factor in a Class 3 race last start, but was an easy Class 4 winner prior to that and can improve off the five-week break.
GINGERELLA (1) has a good first-up record, but she is aging and only had three runs during her last preparation. The 9-year-old enters Sunday’s race without a trial when she appears for the first time since October last year.
Emergency acceptor ARC TRIUMPH (11) is one to consider for the multiples if he gains a start.
Race 7 Selections: (8) TAU KEH SOH, (6) MAJESTIC WAY, (3) WECANDO, (1) GINGERELLA
It took PACIFIC WINDSOR (1) twelve runs to finally break the maiden tag back in March, but he has been making rapid progress as he targets successive victories in the 1275m Class 4A event (Race 3). The 4-year-old has picked up two Class 4 wins, both over Sunday’s distance on the inner track, and should be hard to beat despite rising 3kg in the weights.
TANGESH (7) raced ungenerously in his first attempt at Class 4 grade recently, finishing as the runner-up, and gains a big weight advantage over PACIFIC WINDSOR (1) with 53.5kg. The 5-year-old scored at this track and distance prior to that and will utilize his early pace from the outside barrier.
CONGAREE (3) will be suited with the rise in distance, while MODRIC (8) closed off well when caught wide throughout here a fortnight ago.
Race 3 Selections: (1) PACIFIC WINDSOR, (7) TANGESH, (3) CONGAREE, (8) MODRIC
Race experience should play a big part in the 1075m Open Maiden (Race 8) where GULF EAGLE (2) and CHARMING WIN (4) appear to stand out from their rivals.
GULF EAGLE (2) displayed potential at the trials prior to his debut on May 5, finishing 2nd behind Roger Roger, which was placed in a Class 4 contest last Sunday.
CHARMING WIN (4), with a record of 7 minor placings from eight starts, has started favorite on numerous occasions and is starting to test the patience of his followers. However, the 3-year-old is a fast and reliable beginner and will benefit starting from pole position.
SUNNY DAY (9) continues to improve with each performance, while debutants LUCKY MAGIC (6) and SWORDSMAN SCHOLAR (7) have both shown ability at the trials.
Race 8 Selections: (2) GULF EAGLE, (4) CHARMING WIN, (9) SUNNY DAY, (6) LUCKY MAGIC
