SELANGOR RACE PREVIEW – SATURDAY, JUNE 15
The newly refurbished Course A will be used for the seven-race program at Selangor Turf Club on Saturday, with the rail out 6 meters for the entire circuit.
Trainer Simon Dunderdale extended his lead at the top of the premiership following a winning treble at the meeting here last Sunday. He will be represented by the in-form mare, HOLY ELEANOR (8), who is targeting a hat trick in the 1100m Class 4 contest (Race 3).
The 7-year-old broke through at her Malaysian debut in December and has soldiered on with three wins from four local starts, a remarkable feat for a horse that remained winless for 23 starts when racing in Singapore. If anything, her last start was arguably her most impressive, stepping up to Class 4 for the first time and scoring by 5.5 lengths.
The main danger appears to be another galloper that scored at its local debut, TRIBUTO (4), who easily accounted for his rivals when winning by 4.25 lengths after being off for just under five months. The 5-year-old has yet to miss a place when second up and will also prove hard to beat.
Others in the mix include DRAGON CAVALLO (2), who always attracts market support and is a proven weight carrier, while SIMLONG BEACH (9) is the likely leader and could be hard to run down. TIPPING POINT (7), a recent winner at big odds, has recaptured his best form and is one for the trifecta players.
Race 3 Selections: (8) HOLY ELEANOR, (4) TRIBUTO, (2) DRAGON CAVALLO, (9) SIMLONG BEACH
Some progressive types line up in the high-grade 1600m Supreme C contest (Race 6), including LEOPARD ECLIPSE (1), who returns to his favourite journey. Runner-up in the 2000m G1 Perak Derby in November, LEOPARD ECLIPSE (1) has won four from ten over the mile and looks a genuine chance to strike back despite rising 4 kg in the weights.
SEMANTAN PRINCE (3) is a handy sit-sprinter who produced a big finish when scoring over 1600m from barrier 13 at Ipoh two starts back. The 8-year-old was slow away last time but closed off well in a strong Supreme A graded event a month ago.
LIM’S BETTERREADY (4) easily accounted for last Sunday’s winner, Hardcore, over 1275m three weeks ago and steps out to the mile for the first time. The 6-year-old has won up to 1500m previously, so he looks suited to the longer trip.
SHOW HAND (5) was well supported when scoring over 1797m on the inner track a fortnight ago and is capable of repeating the dose, while SACERD JUDGEMENT (6) makes his local debut and his solid Singapore form line keeps him under notice first up.
Race 6 Selections: (1) LEOPARD ECLIPSE, (3) SEMANTAN PRINCE, (4) LIM’S BETTERREADY, (5) SHOW HAND
