Apprentice Jockey K Pavinthran Suspended for Two Months

K Pavinthran

Apprentice Jockey K Pavinthran served a three-month suspension from July 23 to October 22 last year and returned to racing in early June this year. However, he faced scrutiny from the stewards last Sunday after encountering new issues.

After Sunday’s inquiry, App K Pavinthran, the rider of FROM THE NAVY in Race 9, admitted to a breach of MRA Rule 44(6) for not riding his horse out fully until the end of the race, which affected his chances of securing second place.

In determining the penalty, the Stewards considered Pavinthran’s guilty plea, mitigating circumstances, past record, and his input on the penalty.

He has been suspended from participating in races for two (2) months starting from 14 July 2024 until 13 September 2024, inclusive. This suspension is to be served consecutively with any other ongoing suspension. Pavinthran was informed of his right to appeal this decision.
