Premiership leading trainer, Simon Dunderdale will be hoping for a reverse result when former Australian performer, FATAL ATTRACTION clashes with GOLDEN PEGASUS in the 1600m Safar Gemilang Cup, the second leg of the SLTC Four-Year-Old series.
GOLDEN PEGASUS took out the first leg over 1200m with a decisive four-length victory over FATAL ATTRACTION on June 30 and will step up to the mile for the first time.
FATAL ATTRACTION, a 1400m winner at his local debut, is a proven performer over longer trips which include a 2100m win in Australia. The gelding will enter Sunday’s feature a fresher commodity as GOLDEN PEGASUS has to back up from his third placing over 1020m last Sunday.
The 1600m 4YO Safar Gemilang Cup (Race 8), the second leg of the four-year-old series, will highlight the eleven-race program at Selangor Turf Club this Sunday.
GOLDEN PEGASUS (1) defeated FATAL ATTRACTION (3) in the first leg over 1200m here on June 30 and an enthralling rematch is expected as the pair line up against each other over the longer trip. It will be the first time that GOLDEN PEGASUS (1) will step up to the mile and is also on the seven-day back up following his 3rd over 1020m in a Class 3 contest last Sunday when starting an odds on favorite. The Wayne Lim trained gelding will meet FATAL ATTRACTION (3) slightly worse at the weights from their last clash when GOLDEN PEGASUS (1) won by four lengths. However, FATAL ATTRACTION (3) might turn the result in his favour as he is proven over the longer trips and has won up to 2100m in Australia. The Simon Dunderdale stable is on fire at the moment and FATAL ATTRACTION (3) can easily go two from three in the country. Stable mate INTENT (2) was resuming from a ten-week break when he contested the first leg of the series finishing 4th, beaten nine lengths, prior to him finishing in the same position in a 1020m Class 3 race a fortnight ago. He will also step up to the mile for the first time and will strip fitter third up this preparation. THE GENERAL (4) resumes and trialed well recently and has displayed potential during his two preparations in the country chalking up two victories from eight starts. TYPHOON (5) picked off a couple of races during his last campaign as he also resumes from a three-month spell.
