Sprint Trophy an open affair

Circuit Mission

This year’s RM 250,000 G1 Penang Sprint Trophy contains five previous Group one winners, but the eventual victor may come from a lineup of progressive gallopers making their way through the grades.

Duel Group winner, CHEVAL BLANC returns to the scene of his first Malaysian Group success when taking out the Penang Gold Cup in December and is part of a four-pronged attack for trainer Frank Maynard. Stablemate CIRCUIT MISSION contested eight group ones in Singapore without success but has impressed in the high grades locally with two wins from three starts.

KING FU PANDA finally delivered a major victory in the G1 Ipoh Gold Vase in mid-June and was placed second this race last year.

CHONKY POTATO is capable of winning at this level and is holding form with a solid trial during the week.

The likes of AWESOME STORM, PASIR PINJI and GOOD FIGHT are proven performers at this level and are capable of chalking up further Group success.
