Boots Like Bruce hat-trick bound

Boots Like Bruce

Quality sprinter BOOTS LIKE BRUCE can extend his purple patch of form in the $125,000 Listed Swan Draught (1200m) at Belmont racecourse this Saturday.

As a lightly-raced seven-year-old, BOOTS LIKE BRUCE has only had 15 starts, but his record is impressive, boasting seven wins and two second places, giving him a winning strike rate of 47 percent. After finishing a close second in his first-up run in mid-June, the son of Alfred Nobel secured back-to-back victories in emphatic style, most recently winning the Listed H.G Bolton Sprint by 3.3 lengths over this track and distance.

BOOTS LIKE BRUCE finds another winnable race this week against a similar field. With the track expected to be soft or heavy on Saturday, his reliable record on rain-affected tracks further enhances his chances of winning.

Talented four-year-old SCHWARZ is poised for a first-up win this Saturday in the $300,000 Group 2 Darley Missile Stakes over 1200m at Randwick Racecourse, Australia.

SCHWARZ has already notched three wins from just seven starts, including an easy victory in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas two starts ago. His last run at Eagle Farm in early June can be disregarded as an uncharacteristic performance where he failed to display his usual tactical speed, settling off the pace and finishing 13th in a field of 18.

After a two-month break, SCHWARZ has turned in an impressive trial win leading up to this week’s assignment. With champion jockey James McDonald in the saddle, he appears well-placed to make amends for his last-start defeat.
