On Saturday, 10 August 2024, at SLTC, the Stewards concluded an inquiry into the riding of THUNDERGOD in Race 9 on Sunday, 4 August 2024, gathering evidence from Jockey S Zulfikri and Trainer S Hamilton, the respective rider and trainer of the horse.
After reviewing the race footage and considering the evidence presented, Jockey S Zulfikri pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride THUNDERGOD to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The charge detailed that his effort in the straight lacked vigour, particularly in his whip action and usage, which was deemed insufficient and offered minimal assistance to his mount.

Taking into account Jockey S Zulfikri’s guilty plea, riding record, mitigating factors, and his submissions on penalty, the Stewards suspended him from riding in races for a period of two (2) months, starting from 2 September 2024 and ending on 1 November 2024. This suspension is to be served consecutively with any other existing penalty. He was informed of his Right of Appeal.
