C.W. Choi Granted Professional Trainer’s License in Selangor

Choi Chun Wai

Mr. Choi Chun Wai, widely known as C.W. Choi, has been granted his professional trainer’s license by the Malaysian Racing Association, based in Selangor.

Originally from Hong Kong, Choi began his career as a jockey in 1990 and competed there until 1998. Notably, he was the Champion Apprentice during the 1991/1992 season.

From 2000 to 2011, he held a jockey license with the Macau Jockey Club. Following this, he worked as a Stable Supervisor for trainer G. Allendorf from 2011 to 2014. In the 2014/2015 season, he was promoted to Assistant Trainer under G. Allendorf, a role he held until September 2018, when he was awarded his Trainer License.

With 28 years of experience in horse racing, Mr. Choi is a hands-on horseman. During his tenure as Assistant Trainer, his team achieved notable successes, including winning the Group One Macau Derby in 2016 and the Chairman Challenge Cup in 2017.
