Tom Kitten poised for a first-up win

Tom Kitten

Promising four-year-old TOM KITTEN is well-positioned for a first-up victory this Saturday in the $160,000 Precise Air Handicap over 1400m at Rosehill Gardens, Australia.

With four wins from 15 starts, TOM KITTEN showed plenty of promise last preparation despite not finding the winner’s circle in a series of competitive 3YO Group races. Three starts back, the Harry Angel gelding produced a strong fourth in the G1 Randwick Guineas, followed by a solid sixth in the G1 Rosehill Guineas over 2000m. Both times, he was beaten by less than two lengths, confirming his place among this season’s elite youngsters.

Last seen finishing a commendable fourth in the G1 ATC Australian Derby (2400m) at Randwick in April, TOM KITTEN has trialled impressively leading into this race. Standing out as the best horse moving forward, he is a major contender for a first-up win.

Quality galloper TRIPLE JAY is primed to extend his winning streak this Saturday when he competes in the $100,000 Blue Spec Stakes over 1650m at Belmont racecourse, Australia.

A model of consistency from the start, TRIPLE JAY is currently in career-best form, with four wins and a placing from his last five starts. The son of Street Boss claimed his third consecutive victory in his most recent outing, comfortably defeating a similar field by one length over 1400m at this track.

This week, TRIPLE JAY finds another highly winnable race, with many of his rivals having finished behind him last time. Although some of them gain a slight advantage with the weight swings, it may not be enough to turn the tables. If TRIPLE JAY handles the step up to 1650m, a distance he’s tackling for the first time, he will be hard to beat.
