Gimme some more Veale and Greeff

Trainer Alan Greeff has had his best start to a season in years and it has all happened without the assistance of regular rider and South African Champion Jockey Richard Fourie.

Jockey Sean Veale has taken over the reins while Fourie is on a break and he is doing a very good job of it.

They team up in all eight races at Fairview’s Friday meeting on the Polytrack but there are only three of them that will be discussed in this preview.

Coral Creek in Race 2, Gocekwithlove in Race 3 and Lady Crusade in Race 5 all look to have decent winning chances.

Coral Creek has only run twice and ran with merit on both occasions.

The Global-View gelding looked a bit unlucky on debut when runner-up to Thread Of Life. The three-year-old showed signs of inexperience and only got into the race very late.

Fourie was aboard on that occasion

More was expected from Coral Creek second time out and although the gelding failed to win, he was not disgraced when third and only 0.75 lengths behind James Fitzjames.

Splitting the pair on that occasion was Golden Gallant, who will reoppose in this race. It is over 1300m, the same course and distance of their last race. Coral Creek finished 0.50 length behind Golden Gallant.

That was the first time Golden Gallant had run on the Polytrack, but it was his fifth start.

As he was unruly on that occasion, it is quite likely that Coral Creek will improve and beat Golden Gallant this time around but that cannot be taken as a guarantee.

Gocekwithlove has shown good improvement since joining Greeff in June and has won two of her last three starts. She was impressive last time out when winning over 1000m on the Polytrack.

This Danon Platina had earlier won over 1200m in June.

She has picked up a six-point penalty for her latest win and goes 1400m in this MR 92 Handicap for fillies and mares and may well prove to be too good once again.

Lady Crusade had lost her way, but she is back in full force and quickened nicely to win her latest start

She takes on stronger this time around and is back over 1000m, but Veale got the best out of the Crusade filly and can do so again.

The best bet on this card, however, is Gimme’s Lassies in Race 4, a Graduation Plate over 1100m.

The Gimmethegreenlight mare has not won for some time now and has been unlucky a couple of times of late but is weighted to win easily.
