Talented three-year-old filly AUTUMN GLOW is primed to go back-to-back in the $250,000 Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes over 1300m at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday.
Trained by Chris Waller, AUTUMN GLOW made an impressive debut two weeks ago, stepping straight into a 3YO BM72 race instead of the more common Maiden, a clear sign of her connections’ strong confidence in her ability. Despite being the only unraced horse in the field, the daughter of The Autumn Sun showed an explosive turn of foot, comfortably defeating her rivals by 2.5 lengths over this track and distance. Notably, all her competitors in that race were already winners, making her performance even more remarkable.
Now stepping up to Group level, AUTUMN GLOW is the clear favourite in the early betting market at $1.95. AXIUS is the second favourite at $5, followed by WANARUAH at $8, who holds a slight edge over SHANGRI LA EXPRESS in the betting.
In-form four-year-old SILVER EYE aims to extend his purple patch of form in the $60,000 Vale Joan Parnham Handicap over 1200m at Belmont racecourse this Saturday.
A consistent performer since his debut, SILVER EYE has secured three wins and five placings from 11 starts. After four consecutive minor placings, the son of Sessions was heavily backed last time out and delivered with a commanding 2.5-length victory over 1000m at this track against a quality field.
Given SILVER EYE’s racing style, the step up in distance this week should be to his advantage. A slight 0.5kg weight increase is unlikely to stop him from winning again, especially with jockey Lucy Fiore remaining in the saddle.
