Giga to Kick off his new campaign

Giga Kick

The 2022 Everest champion GIGA KICK is aiming for a winning return in the $1m Group 3 Concorde Stakes over 1000m at Randwick recourse this Saturday.

GIGA KICK sustained a muscle tear off his hip bone in the McEwen Stakes at Moonee Valley last September, yet still managed to finish a commendable third. Trainer Clayton Douglas recently mentioned that the five-year-old has displayed strong form in his jump-out and two Sydney trials, indicating he’s primed for the challenge in the G3 Concorde Stakes.

Currently favoured in this week’s feature, GIGA KICK is priced at $2.80. Early market mover BELLA NIPOTINA has shortened from $5 to $3.90, while PRIVATE EYE remains a contender at around $6.

Group 1 winner ZARDOZI looks ideally placed to return to the winner’s circle this Saturday when she lines up in the $300,000 Group 2 Daily Press Chelmsford Stakes over 1600m at Randwick racecourse, Australia.

ZARDOZI has secured six wins from 14 starts, including three at Group level. She claimed the G1 Kennedy Oaks at Flemington last November against a highly competitive field. Earlier this year, the Kingman mare delivered a strong performance in the G1 Australian Oaks, finishing second in April, before taking a well-deserved four-month break.

Resuming two weeks ago in the G1 Winx Stakes over 1400m, ZARDOZI finished a fast-closing sixth, likely not at her peak fitness. With that run under her belt, she should improve significantly and looks primed to strike second-up, stepping up to a mile.
