RACE BY RACE PREVIEWS: SCOTTSVILLE@2024.09.08

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 08.09.2024, Race 1, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R90,000, 12:30GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: REAL WAR (3) started a short-priced favourite for Dean Kannemeyer at just his second outing but finished a distant fourth behind Luneluck. He was ridden by an inexperience apprentice on that occasion and Craig Zackey takes over in the saddle. I SALUTE YOU (11) will prove a threat. He has shown up well of Peter Muscutt in two outings and had a testing draw last time out. GOOD LIVING (8) has been knocking on the door for some time now and has been improving slowly. He has shown up well over course and distance and will be a contender. GREENLIGHT EXPRESS (14) found some market support last run but was never in the hunt. He does appear better than that showing. (Andrew Harrison: 3-11-8-14).

Selections:

#3 REAL WAR, #11 I SALUTE YOU, #8 GOOD LIVING, #14 GREENLIGHT EXPRESS

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 08.09.2024, Race 2, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R90,000, 13:05GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: MY BOY LOLLIPOP (11) has shown up well in some competitive maidens and given the exposed form of this field he should be able to make it into the winner’s enclosure for Frank Robinson. Biggest threat could come in the form of ONE SCOTCH (13). Paul Lafferty’s gelding showed up nicely on debut from a deep Hollywoodbets Greyville draw on debut and he should come on nicely with the experience. Dark horse could be Glen Kotzen’s runner BOOM SHAKALAKA (10). He made a fair Hollywoodbets Kenilworth debut, but that was back on January of this year. He was not friendless in the betting that afternoon so it may pay to keep an eye on the market. It is difficult to make out a case for most of the balance of the field but GREEN MILE (8) steps out for his third run after a big break between his first and second outings. (Andrew Harrison: 11-13-8-10).

Selections:

#11 MY BOY LOLLIPOP, #13 ONE SCOTCH, #8 GREEN MILE, #10 BOOM SHAKALAKA

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 08.09.2024, Race 3, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R90,000, 13:40GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Tricky maiden with thin form to go on. However, Gary Rich could have the answer in BLIND SPEED (9). The daughter of New Predator has improved with every outing and was running on well over course and distance last time out. She has a big chance if she can build on that effort. YELLOW JACKET (11) will test them all. Kom Naidoo likes his runners to go forward and she was staying on nicely from a tough draw last time out. These two look the form principals. TWILIGHT BAY (2) is likely to come on from her debut effort for Mike Miller while QUEEN OF THE AIR (6) is a regally bred first timer and one to watch in the market. (Andrew Harrison: 9-11-2-6).

Selections:

#9 BLIND SPEED, #11 YELLOW JACKET, #2 TWILIGHT BAY, #6 QUEEN OF THE AIR

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 08.09.2024, Race 4, Gallops, 1950m, Turf, R90,000, 14:15GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Open maiden. BELLA’S PABLO (2) has taken time to come to hand for Peter Muscutt but the gelding’s form has improved since arriving back from the Cape. He stays the trip well and knows the course which is all in his favour. OFF THE CHARTS (3) has only his third outing but caught the eye last time out when going the mile in first time blinkers. Given his pedigree Paul Lafferty’s colt should enjoy every yard of this trip. AMIGO (7) has been a late starter for Louis Goosen but made marked improvement last run. He too should not be troubled by the extra. TIBBOTT BOURKE (8) cannot be left out of any calculations. He has yet to run a bad race and the step up in trip could now be what the four-year-old is looking for. (Andrew Harrison: 2-3-7-8).

Selections:

#2 BELLA’S PABLO, #3 OFF THE CHARTS, #7 AMIGO, #8 TIBBOTT BOURKE

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 08.09.2024, Race 5, Gallops, 1750m, Turf, R90,000, 14:50GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Stuart Ferrie saddles the veteran galloper MASTER OF DESTINY (6) who won his sixth race at long odds last time out. Although he carries top weight, he is never far back in any of his races and he can follow up in this company. ABERDEEN (3) was disappointing last run after showing something of a return to form at his previous start. However, Glen Kotzen’s gelding has done well on this course in the past and on his best showing he must have a strong chance. FRENCH TRIP (9) was only a maiden winner last run but that was his first outing for Duncan Howells and he won readily. His Cape form was not too shabby and he could be progressive. GLOBAL MOVEMENT (5) is obviously rock sound, this being his fourth outing in just twenty days, but Tienie Prinsloo was champion trainer in Kimberley where horses raced every other week on the dirt. (Andrew Harrison: 6-3-9-5).

Selections:

#6 MASTER OF DESTINY, #3 ABERDEEN, #9 FRENCH TRIP, #5 GLOBAL MOVEMENT

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 08.09.2024, Race 6, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R120,000, 15:25GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Stuart Ferrie’s gelding LUNARCAM (10) is super quick and goes well over course and distance. He should be involved in the finish whichever way it goes. Gareth van Zyl has two live runners in SHIPHOLIA (9) and LUHAMBA PHAMBILI (7) The latter got a hefty rating after his debut win but comes into this race with only 52kg to shoulder. He looks progressive and any market support must be taken seriously. Marco van Rensburg partners Shipholia and has been doing duty for the stable of late but he would not have been able to make the weight on the stable companion. However, Shipholia is seldom far back and cannot be written off lightly. DONQUERARI (8) ran a cracker for Louis Goosen from a tough draw last time out. He must also have a winning chance in this line-up. (Andrew Harrison: 10-7-8-9).

Selections:

#10 LUNARCAM, #7 LUHAMBA PHAMBILI, #8 DONQUERARI, #9 SHIPHOLIA

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 08.09.2024, Race 7, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R90,000, 16:00GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary:  Wide open handicap. RAFEEF’S CHOICE (2) has not been out of the money in her last three over course and distance. She is now 2.5kg better off with her recent conqueror EMERALD GREEN (5) and should be able to turn the tables even though she was two lengths behind Louis Goosen’s filly who was overdue that win. ONE SMART COOKIE (9) has won twice on this course in her last three starts, her only blip being in soft ground. She is a kilo better off with Emerald Green on their last meeting and if fit and well she must have a strong winning chance. LUCRATIVE (12) won well on debut and was then a beaten favourite second time out when going the turn for the first time. She was lumped with a big rating after her maiden win but she shed her maiden over course and distance and is one to watch in the market. (Andrew Harrison: 2-9-5-12).

Selections:

#2 RAFEEF’S CHOICE, #9 ONE SMART COOKIE, #5 EMERALD GREEN, #12 LUCRATIVE

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 08.09.2024, Race 8, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R90,000, 16:35GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Tough handicap. MUSIC IS LIFE (13) improved last run when dropped in class and the blinkers back on. His recent form has been on the poly but he looks more than capable of recording his second win in this line-up. TEATIME TIPPLE (6) has been trying a touch further of late but has also been facing stronger company. He should feature given his current form. HAPPY WANDERER (12) has not been far back in recent outings and went close when taking on weaker last start. However, he only has 48kg to shoulder which should make him competitive. Alec Laird is soon to head back to home base on the Highveld but can sign off with COPPER JOHN (14) who was running on well when fitted with first-time cheek pieces. He could well be better suited to this trip. (Andrew Harrison: 13-6-12-14).

Selections:

#13 MUSIC IS LIFE, #6 TEATIME TIPPLE, #12 HAPPY WANDERER, #14 COPPER JOHN

Best Win: #11 MY BOY LOLLIPOP

Best Value Bet: #6 MASTER OF DESTINY

Best Longshot: #5 GLOBAL MOVEMENT
