Race Preview

C1 – PRIX DES TROIS ROSES D’ARGENT – 1200m (a6f) – TURF – Class 2 Race – Flat – EUR €34,000

  1. REUX – Consistent colt with sound references/form credentials including a creditable last-start 4th in a Class 2 conditions race over 1200m a Deauville on 1 August
  2. BLAZING STAR – Exciting prospect unbeaten in 2 starts – won 1400m Dieppe debut and followed up over 1200m at Deauville on 22 August. Seems capable of preserving her 100% record
  3. BURHAN – Confirmed the promise of his debut 4th in a newcomers’ race over 1500m with a last-start 1200m victory at Deauville on 20 August. Will be a factor
  4. LADY OF ANDROS – Debut winner at Le Lion-d’Angers in July and has acquitted herself well in defeat in back-to-back Listed races – finished 5th of 10 over 1000m at Deauville and 6th of 13 over 1000m at Newbury on 16 August
  5. UNE POINTURE – Winner over 1200m on the Chantilly straight and confirmed that form/improvement by finishing 4th in the lucrative Arqana Series sale race over 1300m at Deauville on 15 August. Keep safe
  6. HONEY STAR – Opened her account when winning on her handicap debut over 1300m at Deauville on 3 August. Penalised 2,5kg
  7. PLACE PRINCIPALE – Put an underwhelming debut 9th behind her with a last-start victory over 1000m at Marseille-Borely when last seen on 24 April. Not taken lightly on her reappearance

Summary: Undefeated BLAZING STAR (2) is hard to oppose and will likely start favourite but she won’t have things her own way, as André Fabre-trained last-start winner BURHAN (3) and stablemate LADY OF ANDROS (4), who didn’t go unnoticed when 6th in a Listed race at Newbury last month, have shown enough to threaten the selection’s 100% record. UNE POINTURE (5) has the form and experience to make his presence felt too.

SELECTIONS
BLAZING STAR (2) – BURHAN (3) – LADY OF ANDROS (4) – UNE POINTURE (5)

C3 – PRIX BILL WILLIAMSON (CHMPT PARIS TURF DES APPRENTIS & JEUNES JOCKEYS) – 2000m (a1m1/4) – TURF – Class 3 Race – Flat – EUR €23,000

  1. BALI – Made a winning handicap debut over 1800m at Dieppe in July and wasn’t seen to best effect when only 9th in a 1600m Quinte+ on 29 August at ParisLongchamp. High on the shortlist
  2. KING ZARAK – Maturing stayer whose best references (wins) have been achieved over further (won a 2600m handicap and 2400m claimer). Unplaced in consecutive recent starts – latest (6th) over 2900m at Clairefontaine 24 August
  3. MISTER PRESIDENT – Opened his account over 2100m at Toulouse on 8 April and hasn’t been seen since finishing 5th at La Teste over 2400m on 25 April
  4. LUNA ROCK – Won once and finished 3rd four times in 5 starts at this level before being outclassed in back-to-back Listed races, the latest (11th) over 2800m at ParisLongchamp on 1 September. Not taken lightly

  10. SHALOHA – Debut winner over 2000m at Cagnes and has confirmed that promise in both subsequent starts by finishing 3rd at that venue over 2000m and 4th over 2150m at Lyon-La Soie on 24 March (all 3 starts on PSF). Respect

Summary: EDESTRIAV (7) deservedly opened his account with a hard-fought victory at Sillé-le-Guillaume last month and this shorter trip should serve his interests. As such, he is taken to follow up at the expense of BALI (1) who shouldn’t be hastily condemned for his Quinté+ performance at ParisLongchamp. SHALOHA (10) has already proven her competitiveness in this category, albeit on PSF and she shouldn’t be underestimated on her reappearance in her first start on turf. Last-start winner PORTUCALE (5) ought to remain competitive too.

SELECTIONS
EDESTRIAV (7) – BALI (1) – SHALOHA (10) – PORTUCALE (5)

  6. MIA MAN – Unplaced once in 4 handicap appearances (over 2700m, a distance too far). Won a 2000m ParisLongchamp handicap in July and showed his form/well-being with a good 3rd at Deauville over 2000m on 6 August
  7. BAD BOY – Consistent, experienced hard-knocker with sound references in handicaps at this level including a last-start 4th in a similar contest over 2000m at ParisLongchamp on 4 July. Attractive outsider
  8. THE WHITE LADY – Debut winner over 1900m on PSF at Chantilly on 15 February. Runner-up on handicap debut over 2000m at ParisLongchamp in July – supplemented to run here after her Deauville 2nd over 1900m (PSF) on 4 August

Summary: Supplemented THE WHITE LADY (8) hit the woodwork in her only handicap appearance and she is well placed to go one better getting weight from all her rivals. 10. FISFUL OF LOVE – Experienced filly in the claiming category. Finished 4th in a course-and-distance claimer on 6 September

Summary: TELCHERBOLINE (3), one of many in the race on handicap debut, has shown enough to suggest that she can open her account here at the primary expense of LAITH (2) who fits a similar profile but concedes 1,5kg to the selection. OLYA (1) gives weight to all in her first handicap appearance but shouldn’t be underestimated. YOUNG AND PROUD (4) has the form and experience to make his presence felt too.

SELECTIONS

  8. MELO MELO – A Group II winner with form references/credentials at the highest level. Disappointing 7th of 8 over 2800m at Goodwood in Group II Lillie Langtry Stakes on 3 August but could makes amends in first-time headgear
  9. PANTHERA – Authoritative winner of a 2400m Clairefontaine maiden at the beginning of August and didn’t go unnoticed when 6th in a 2800m Listed race against older rivals at ParisLongchamp on 1 September

Summary: MELO MELO (8) blotted her copybook in a 2800m Group II at Goodwood last month but looks good value to make amends on a track she particularly appreciates.
