It is back to the Polytrack on Friday at Fairview and it is competitive racing. There are, however, at least two runners that punters can possibly rely on.
Trainer Gavin Smith has got significant improvement out of the now five-years-old Destiny’s Angel and he could prove the one to beat in Race 5, a MR 87 Handicap over 1600m.
The Master Of My Fate gelding arrived in Smith’s yard a maiden after eight starts but is now a three-time winner.
All three of those wins were on the turf and he is zero from four on the Polytrack, but Destiny’s Angel is in terrific form with two wins and a second in his last three starts.
If allowed the same freedom to make all the running as he has been doing on the turf of late, he will take some catching.
There are also some question marks regarding the ability of our other pick, Get It Done in Race 3, a MR 68 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1900m.
Trainer Sharon Kotzen has her runners in fine form, and Get It Done has won two of her last three starts.
Both those wins were on the turf and over 1600m and she has only won once from 11 on this particular surface.
That does throw a wet blanket on the confidence of her supporters but what do know she is in the form of her life and she has run well numerous times over this course and distance.
