Korea Racing Busan Preview – 27 September

Busan Race 3:  Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Standard maiden. After being slow away and doing nothing on debut, (10) FLYING CHAMPION was much improved at start number two on August 23^rd when handy throughout. The step up in trip can suit and third-up, she can be peaking here. The unkindly named (5) FAT BOY also enters off a runner-up finish, in his case over 1300M on September 1^st when settling right back and running on. He does his best work late and is another who can thrive over the slightly extended trip. Those two will fill out most quinella tickets but (1) UNJU CHALLENGE showed promise on debut. He only beat a couple home, but it was a quick race on a fast track and with some natural improvement, should be at least a place chance here. (7) WIND KINGDOM and (2) RIGHT CHAMP others to consider for the minors.

Busan Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Decent race for the level. (10) BEOLMAUI ACE got his maiden win back in July with a comprehensive score in a quick time over 1300M. In two tries at this class, he has a 3^rd over 1400M and a 2^nd over 1200M, both in a quick time but in contrasting styles. He carries his fair share of weight here but has every chance of winning. (3) YEONGGWANGUIFIRST enters with a similar record having registered his maiden victory three starts back before running 3^rd and 2^nd in two tries at this class, both at 1200M. He comes up to the 1400M for the first time, but he has shown he can run on, and he can be a danger here. (11) LEMON TREE was a winner on debut over 1000M on July 12^th, leading all the way, before running 5^th when sent off as favourite on his first try at this class over 1200M on August 25^th. He remains under a light weight and up in trip again, can be given another chance. (4) WONDERFUL BIDDER and (1) ANOTHER ONE others to consider.

Busan Race 5: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(1) STRIDING MAN races for the first time since running a very close 2^nd at this class and distance in March having led for much of the way. He has been in work since the start of August, and he looked well enough in a trial at the end of that month. He draws nicely and with Franco up, he can be backed first-up. If match fitness is a concern, then (11) SKY GRIT is the obvious alternative. She comes in off back-to-back runner-up finishes at this class over 1200M and 1300M, both times when racing handy and running on in quick times and while she has the challenge of the widest gate here, but she can overcome that and has a big chance. (6) GLORY GANGSEO was a smart winner on debut over 1200M in April before returning in July as favourite for his first go at this class and distance whereupon he stumbled at the start and was never a factor. He is worth another chance here. (5) HELLO SUNSHINE and the up in class last start winner (8) STORMING MAGIC are other place chances.

Busan Race 6: Class 5 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(2) GOAT KING IJI was a winner at this class and distance on August 10^th, leading all the way around, before running 4^th when sent off as favourite for a repeat on September 1^st. He draws nicely to get a comfortable lead and while he carries 2.5kg more than he won under, he can go all the way here. (1) RAON THE CHEONHA returned from five months out to run 5^th of eight over 1400M on August 16^th. That was the distance at which he got his maiden win in January and coming up to a mile and second-up, he can go close. (9) BABEL DREAMY is yet to win but ran 2^nd on her first try at this level over 1800M on August 30^th. She placed three times at this distance at class 6 and under a light weight should be in the mix in this company. (4) ALLURE needs a line drawn through her latest but did get her solitary win two starts back over a mile and along with (11) GEUMA BRISK, is another in the frame.

Busan Race 7: Class 3 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(2) GEUMA HUGE HIT is still class 3 qualified, but she stakes a shy at the stumps in this weak class 2 and under a light weight, it may pay off. She is a two-time winner at this distance, the draws very well, and she can win. (8) GEUMA DISTINCTION parted company with his jockey when coming out of the gate as second favourite at this class and distance on September 15^th. He was well supported because he won over this distance in June before running 4^th at this class in August. In this modest company, he comes up significantly in the handicap and he did get a fair way around the track under his own steam that day, but he can be given another chance here.  (5) PERFECT ACTION enters off back-to-back 3^rd places at class 3 and is another one who looks nicely in here.  (7) BEOLMAUI MONSTER and (9) MAN OF THE STAR others who may have a say in the finish.

Busan Race 8: Class 2 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million

(6) YEONGGWANGUI ACE has a 2^nd and two 3^rd place finishes in three starts since being promoted to this level after back-to-back wins at class 3 in April and May. He is a two-time winner at this distance and in this company, he can settle handy and run on strong. (5) NORTHERN BID has finished outside the top three on only one occasion. He enters off back-to-back runner up finished at this class over 1400M and a mile and coming back to this distance – at which three of his four wins have come – he should be a big danger. (9) HANGANG SAVER was 2^nd in a super quick race over class and distance on August 10^th. He comes up 2kg in the weights, and is in a less favourable gate, but he warrants consideration again. (2) HONOR CAL, up in class and looking for a hat-trick of victories, and (1) YEONGGWANGUI TANK, up in class after a gritty all the way last start win himself, are others in the frame.
