Tom’s Lightning to Strike Four in a Row

Tom's Lightning

Locally unbeaten five-year-old TOM’S LIGHTNING is poised to continue his rapid rise through the grades when he lines up in the 1200m Perak Turf Club Community Cup at Ipoh on Sunday.

Since joining the Charles Leck stable earlier this year, TOM’S LIGHTNING has made a strong impression with three wins from as many Malaysian starts, kicking off with a victory in a Class 4 contest at Kuala Lumpur on July 13.

In his last two starts, the gelding handled the step up to Class 3 with ease, leading throughout to win both times comfortably. With a 2.5kg weight drop this weekend and his blistering early speed, TOM’S LIGHTNING looks well-placed for the RM100,000 feature.

Last start maiden winner BURGUNDY BUBBLES has the capacity to defy the class rise in the 1400m Class 4A contest on Sunday.

BURGUNDY BUBBLES did not disgrace against Class 4 opposition at his first run in the country when finishing fourth, beaten by 2.25 lengths here on August 25. The four-year-old never looked in doubt with a comprehensive 5.75 length victory to open his win tally over 1200m at the last Ipoh meeting a fortnight ago.

BURGUNDY BUBBLES will carry the same weight (58.5kg) as he won with last start and looks a likely prospect to rise through the grades in the coming weeks.
