Nine-year-old galloper FIRST BOWL appears primed to bounce back to winning form in the 1020m Class 4B contest at Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
FIRST BOWL received every opportunity and closed off well under jockey Bernardo Pinheiro when finishing runner-up behind local newcomer, Limitless Roar over 1020m here a fortnight ago. The Lawson Moy-trained performer drew wide and had a tendency to hang in over the concluding stages, finishing 2.75 lengths from the winner.
FIRST BOWL has scored twice since returning to his original stable from Singapore, which includes a win over Sunday’s track and trip back in June.
In race 5, DRAGON CAVALLO is one to watch. He simply had not luck last start where he travelled three-wide in midfield throughout after jumping from an outer alley. Despite this challenging trip, he still ran on well to finish third over this track and distance.
With better luck in running this week, he looks capable of securing an overdue win, after three consecutive placings.
PACIFIC SOLDIER looks to be a strong contender in the final event of the day. He went unplaced in 21 starts in Singapore but has shown improvement since relocating to Malaysia in the second half of this year. After a slashing second on his local debut, he followed up with another eye-catching run, finishing fourth last time out when letting down well in the straight.
With his low rating, a drop to Class 5-B will be advantageous, and he looks primed to break through third-up.
