2024 The Everest Preview

Sixteen contenders, including four emergency runners, are set to compete in the thrilling The Everest over 1200m at Royal Randwick on 19 October 2024. With a star-studded field and massive stakes on the line, this promises to be one of the most exciting races of the year. Here’s a look at the runners:

1. I WISH I WIN
Closed powerfully for a 2.1L 3rd behind Southport Tycoon in the G1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on 27 September. Runner-up in this race last year.

2. GIGA KICK
Had the tempo against him when 0.95L 4th to Airman in the G2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on 5 October. Won this race in 2022.

3. PRIVATE EYE
Wide draw didn’t help when finishing 1.57L 6th to I Am Me in the G2 The Shorts (1100m) at Randwick on 21 September. Placed in this race the past two years.

4. BELLA NIPOTINA
Didn’t get a clear run when a close 0.29L 3rd behind Airman in the G2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on 5 October. Remarkably consistent.

5. I AM ME
Enjoyed an ideal run, securing a narrow win over Stefi Magnetica in the G2 The Shorts (1100m) at Randwick on 21 September. Took out the Sydney Stakes on this day last year.

6. STEFI MAGNETICA
Held up in traffic before storming home for a close head 2nd to I Am Me in the G2 The Shorts (1100m) at Randwick on 21 September.

7. SUNSHINE IN PARIS
Powered home to win by 0.31L over Mumbai Muse in the G2 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on 14 September.

8. JOLIESTAR
Came from too far back but ran on strongly for 2L 3rd to Sunshine In Paris in the G2 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on 14 September.

9. GROWING EMPIRE
Gave a bold on-speed effort, narrowly missing by a nose to Southport Tycoon in the G1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on 27 September.

10. TRAFFIC WARDEN
Had a perfect ride but was just touched off by a nose to Broadsiding in the G1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on 28 September.

11. STORM BOY
Set the pace but was outfinished, placing 0.68L 4th to Broadsiding in the G1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on 28 September. The drop back to 1200m should suit.

12. LADY OF CAMELOT
Caught wide and weakened to finish 2.75L 7th behind I Am Me in the G2 The Shorts (1100m) at Randwick on 21 September.
