Race 1 No 5 SPICY SO SMART

His last-start tenth-place finish was better than it looks, as he had to be urged early to find the lead after an awkward jump. Given the early exertion, he was entitled to weaken in the concluding stages.

Based on his solid fourth-place finish in Class 4 two starts ago, he must be rated a strong chance dropping to Class 5, where he boasts a 50 percent strike rate.

Race 7 No 8 SIGHT HAPPY

It seems he struggles to see out the 1200m trip, as shown by his recent efforts in his last three starts, where he raced prominently but weakened in the straight, despite a moderate pace, indicating he’s in need of shorter distances.

He finished strongly for third in a 1000m race four starts ago, so the drop in distance this week should suit him better.

Sectional Stars

Race 4 No 1 DENFIELD

He showed significant improvement at his first-run 32 days ago. After being steadied early from a wide draw, he stormed home for a slashing second at this track and distance. In a below-par Class 4 field, he looks well-placed to return to the winner’s enclosure.

Race 8 No 10 RIGHTEOUS ARION

In three of his last five starts, he has posted the fastest final 400m sectional times and hasn’t been beaten far since stepping up to Class 3 four starts ago. With a race pace that suits his running style, he could well secure a Top 3 finish this week.
