Race Preview
RACE 1: MAUGES HANDICAP (TURF TRACK) (FROM CHOLET RACE 3) – 1900M – TIME: 18:45 PRIZE MONEY: EUR20000
Summary: LUCY GALESTE (6) managed to score last time by a narrow margin at Parislongchamp
over 1950m two weeks ago. She meets SPEEDY RECORD (7) who was second that day on slightly
worse terms and these two could dominate the finish once more. BE A LORD (3) can make the two
mentioned work hard for success and was a winner two starts ago at Le Mans. EL TIGRE (4)
warrants respect and is worth considering.
SELECTIONS
LUCY GALESTE (6) – SPEEDY RECORD (7) – BE A LORD (3) – EL TIGRE (4)
RACE 2: FLORENT BELLAMY HANDICAP (TURF TRACK) (FROM CHOLET RACE 4) – 1900M – TIME: 19:15 PRIZE MONEY: EUR14000
Summary: INCA MAN (2) is seeking win number six and has made some solid efforts in Class 4
handicap races recently. He is marginally preferred to SEA URCHIN (5) who won on turf in late
August and ran a good race on the PSF last time when he was fourth early last month. CORO
CHOP (1) could be the best option for the each-way backers to latch on to. SLAYER (3) was second
two starts ago and can be on the premises.
SELECTIONS
INCA MAN (2) – SEA URCHIN (5) – CORO CHOP (1) – SLAYER (3)
RACE 3: JOSEPH FORNICAL HANDICAP (TURF TRACK) (FROM CHOLET RACE 5) – 2950M – TIME: 19:47 PRIZE MONEY: EUR15000
Summary: PINTXOPOTE (2) won easily last time over course and distance in early October by
three lengths and holds a leading chance of following up on that success. GOOD DES LANDES
(7) followed him home last time and on better terms, she can make things interesting. RED SUGAR
(5) looks like a safe option each way. She stays well. SPIRIT OF DANCE (3) has also won over
than this distance and can not be discounted.
SELECTIONS
PINTXOPOTE (2) – GOOD DES LANDES (7) – RED SUGAR (5) – SPIRIT OF DANCE (3)
RACE 4: ROGER GOURDON HANDICAP (TURF TRACK) (FROM CHOLET RACE 6) – 2950M – TIME: 20:19 PRIZE MONEY: EUR17000
Summary: KIROZ (4) ran a good race when he was third at Nantes last time and looks overdue
for another success. He can get the better of SOULOU MALPIC (1) who won nicely at Lyon Parilly
by over two lengths on his latest outing in mid-October. SITJAR (3) is talented and has shown
plenty in his races. He is lightly raced and has more to come and looks like the each-way pick.
KING MOTIF (5) looks the best of the remainder.
SELECTIONS
KIROZ (4) – SOULOU MALPIC (1) – SITJAR (3) – KING MOTIF (5)
RACE 5: DE L’EPINAY MAIDEN STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM DEAUVILLE RACE 1) – 1900M – TIME: 20:58 PRIZE MONEY: EUR30000
Summary: A toss-up between BEST SECRET (1) and STARLORD (2), both of whom have
revealed undeniable means and have the form and experience to fight for victory. ANZOR (7)
caught the eye on debut and should make his presence felt, given the benefit of that introductory
outing and the likelihood of improvement. CLAPTON (3) showed progress on PSF at Pau recently
and is another with legitimate podium aspirations.
SELECTIONS
BEST SECRET (1) – STARLORD (2) – ANZOR (7) – CLAPTON (3)
RACE 6: DE LA ROCQUE MAIDEN STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM DEAUVILLE RACE 2) – 1900M – TIME: 21:33 PRIZE MONEY: EUR30000
Summary: MAHASEN (2) has revealed considerable ability and could have even more to offer
over this extended trip, so it could pay to follow her progress. Newcomers VEGETALE (8) and IT’S
MY LIFE (7) are attractively bred and could give cheek to that rival if belying their inexperience.
DANSE ETOILEE (1) didn’t go unnoticed on debut and ought to make her presence felt too, with
that experience to count on.
SELECTIONS
MAHASEN (2) – VEGETALE (8) – IT’S MY LIFE (7) – DANSE ETOILEE (1)
RACE 7: PAYS DE BRAY HANDICAP (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM DEAUVILLE RACE 3) – 1900M – TIME: 22:15 PRIZE MONEY: EUR55000
Summary: Antoine de Watrigant only travels to Deauville with runners boasting serious/legitimate
winning chances, which augurs well for supplemented SEE THE DREAM (2) who should not be
hastily condemned for her failure in a recent Listed race. Proven at this level on this surface, TILILA
(11) also has a good chance of winning. FOREVER GIVEN (9), after an encouraging Quinte+
introduction (3rd), consistent EVERSTAR (6), and HUNGRY HEART (8), judged on the form of his
Quinte+ 2nd on this course in August, are genuine podium contenders. GANASS (10), MON
FLAMANT (7) and CLASH ROYALE (14) complete the shortlist.
SELECTIONS
SEE THE DREAM (2) – TILILA (11) – FOREVER GIVEN (9) – EVERSTAR (6)
RACE 8: ZEDDAAN LISTED STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM DEAUVILLE RACE 4) – 1400M – TIME: 22:50 PRIZE MONEY: EUR60000
Summary: Well-bred BETTER TOGETHER (7) ought to continue her momentum by landing the
spoils in this Listed event. Top-rated FLY HALF (1) does, however, have the form and experience
to challenge that rival. Last-start winner SILIUS (4) and the promising GHOUFRANN (5), after a
very pleasant debut, are competitive for the podium places.
SELECTIONS
BETTER TOGETHER (7) – FLY HALF (1) – SILIUS (4) – GHOUFRANN (5)
RACE 9: IRISH RIVER LISTED STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM DEAUVILLE RACE 5) – 1400M – TIME: 23:25 PRIZE MONEY: EUR52000
Summary: Winner of the 2023 edition of this Listed, FAST RAAJ (4) is good value to make a
successful defense given that improvement is expected after an encouraging recent prep run. LE
TABOU (6), impeccable with blinkers fitted, and BABAKOOL (2) who was far from disgraced in a
Group II last time, seem best equipped to expose any chinks in the selection’s armour. The shortlist
is completed by MOUNT ATHOS (3).
SELECTIONS
FAST RAAJ (4) – LE TABOU (6) – BABAKOOL (2) – MOUNT ATHOS (3)
RACE 10: PAYS DE CAUX HANDICAP (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM DEAUVILLE RACE 6) – 1900M – TIME: 00:00 PRIZE MONEY: EUR28000
Summary: DARBASAN (10) made a promising start on PSF and needn’t improve much, with that
experience on this surface to count on, to claim race honours. BEST SHALAA (8) and TENDER
THOUGHTS (12), who were 2nd and 3rd respectively in the benchmark race, thrive on this surface
and will threaten the eselection. GRAND LILI (7) is closely matched with the selection on recent
form so shouldn’t be underestimated either.
SELECTIONS
DARBASAN (10) – BEST SHALAA (8) – TENDER THOUGHTS (12) – GRAND LILI (7)
RACE 11: DU CHENET STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM DEAUVILLE RACE 7) – 1900M – TIME: 00:35 PRIZE MONEY: EUR38000
Summary: ROCK BLANC (6) has won 2 of 3 starts at this venue and was impressive when scoring
at Chantilly recently, so is good value to continue his momentum. RUSSIPANT FAL (10) excels on
this surface and needn’t improve much on his first start for this stable to fight for victory.
Supplemented class-dropper MONTY (1) isn’t taken lightly and should be competitive, along with
SECRETIVE (7) who was a winner on debut as a two-year-old on this course.
SELECTIONS
ROCK BLANC (6) – RUSSIPANT FAL (10) – MONTY (1) – SECRETIVE (7)
RACE 12: PLATEAU DE MADRIE HANDICAP (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM DEAUVILLE RACE 8) – 1900M – TIME: 01:10 PRIZE MONEY: EUR20000
Summary: NOOTKA BAY (1) acquitted himself well in a better race/field over this distance at
Chantilly last time and a repeat of that effort should suffice against this opposition. RED ROSE (6),
fitted with this headgear for the first time, and ideally positioned BALERION (10) are best equipped
to challenge. However, GOLDEN GLOBE (9) isn’t without a chance under Maxime Guyon.
SELECTIONS
NOOTKA BAY (1) – RED ROSE (6) – BALERION (10) – GOLDEN GLOBE (9)
