RACE BY RACE PREVIEWS: GREYVILLE@2024.11.06

HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE, 06.11.2024, Race 1, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R90,000, 12:25GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: MERITORIOUS (8) made a smart winning debut and is a filly that looks to have plenty of scope. She has the widest draw here but finished off her race well and should enjoy the extra furlong. SASCHA’S DREAM (7) enjoyed the step up in trip after making a fair sprint debut. She takes on some struggling older runners and could prove the biggest threat to Meritorious. MYSTIQUE ROUGE (3) is way better than her last effort but is struggling for her second win. PINK DIAMOND (2) found some market support before drifting off the boards at her last start. She has shown recent improvement and may be worth watching. (Andrew Harrison: 8-7-2-3).

Selections:

#8 MERITORIOUS, #7 SASCHA’S DREAM, #2 PINK DIAMOND, #3 MYSTIQUE ROUGE

HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE, 06.11.2024, Race 2, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R90,000, 13:00GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: RODRIGUEZ (5) has been running well against stronger at recent starts. The drop in class goes with a corresponding rise in the weights but he is in a good space and should run a forward race. FISH EAGLE (2) was much improved in his first start for his new stable. He too is down in class and the change of scenery appears to have brought out his better form.  PALERMO (4) has shown his best recent form on the poly but he is in good shape and must rate a decent chance. ONE IRISH ROVER (1) has been close-up in his last two on the poly. That form has panned out quite well and although he jumps in class he does have a light weight. (Andrew Harrison: 5-2-4-1).

Selections:

#5 RODRIGUEZ, #2 FISH EAGLE, #4 PALERMO, #1 ONE IRISH ROVER

HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE, 06.11.2024, Race 3, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R87,750, 13:35GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: PREEMPTIVE STRIKE (5) is something of a poly specialist but has good form over the trip. He has his 40th start and has won five times, four more than most of the opposition., BOOM SHAKALAKA (3) was sent out favourite first run out of the maidens but did not get the best of passages. He can make amends. RHYTHM (1) has been confined mostly to five furlongs but has never been too far back. He has the best of the draw and is relatively lightly raced. BARRY DU GROND (6) was a recent maiden winner but had been knocking at the door for some time and now appears to have come to hand. (Andrew Harrison: 5-3-1-6).

Selections:

#5 PREEMPTIVE STRIKE, #3 BOOM SHAKALAKA, #1 RHYTHM, #6 BARRY DU GROND

HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE, 06.11.2024, Race 4, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R90,000, 14:12GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: MIND MAP (3) made a promising local debut when tried on the poly and sporting first time cheek pieces. He meets a modest field here. MC DAZZLER (8) appears to turn it up when challenged but does have the best record in the race. He drops back to a sprint which could be what he’s looking for. RIVER DANCE (5) has come on at his last two. He is possibly held by Mind Map on their last meeting but does look capable of turning the tables. HIGHER LOVE (7) showed some improvement in blinkers and could finish in the money. (Andrew Harrison: 3-8-5-7).

Selections:

#3 MIND MAP, #8 MC DAZZLER, #5 RIVER DANCE, #7 HIGHER LOVE

HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE, 06.11.2024, Race 5, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R87,750, 14:48GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: LADYBUG (5) has won two of her four starts, both wins coming on the poly. She copped a seven-point rise in the weights for that last win but looks more than capable in this line-up. Michael Roberts saddles three runners, best of which could be SIBERIAN WINTER (2) with regular rider Rachel Venniker aboard. After shedding her maiden on debut she ran in feature company for the rest of the season. She caught the eye when making her seasonal debut behind Icy Lancaster and she should be competitive in this field. SKYTRIX (3) has been in the money at her last three starts although over a furlong further. However, she should be competitive in this line-up. LIZWILE ILALI (7) was a recent maiden winner at just her fourth start. She makes her poly debut and may be worth following in the market. (Andrew Harrison: 5-2-3-7).

Selections:

#5 LADYBUG, #2 SIBERIAN WINTER, #3 SKYTRIX, #7 LIZWILE ILALI

HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE, 06.11.2024, Race 6, Gallops, 1900m, Turf, R90,000, 15:23GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: ROLLO THE VIKING (2) trailed in a distant second last run and possibly did not quite see out the 2300m trip. He has done well over shorter and if he can bring that form to the poly he must have a strong chance in a weak maiden. IRON MONGER (5) is a long-time battler but was much improved last time out. The poly should suit as an older horse and if he can hold form he must have a big chance. RAINWATER (3) has not been too far back of late and the step up in trip in a weak field can see him into the money. HOODWINKED (4) has his third run after a break and steps up to this trip for the first time, also making his poly debut. He could surprise. (Andrew Harrison: 2-5-3-4).

Selections:

#2 ROLLO THE VIKING, #5 IRON MONGER, #3 RAINWATER, #4 HOODWINKED

HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE, 06.11.2024, Race 7, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R90,000, 15:58GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: PLEASEDTOSEEYOU (5) is lightly raced but made a smart local debut over course and distance. He should come on from that effort. GO GRAYSON GO (8) improved nicely second time out although a well beaten second. He makes his poly debut but does look progressive. REAL WAR (7) disappointed when making his poly debut but has been a little costly to follow. He does have ability and cannot be ignored lightly. FIRELIGHTER (4) has been much improved at his last two. He gets the benefit of Rachel Venniker’s 1.5kg allowance and is another to consider. (Andrew Harrison: 5-8-7-4).

Selections:

#5 PLEASEDTOSEEYOU, #8 GO GRAYSON GO, #7 REAL WAR, #4 FIRELIGHTER

HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE, 06.11.2024, Race 8, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R90,000, 16:33GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: BENNIE IN THE AREA (1) has hardly put a foot wrong in recent outings and the form has held up reasonably well. He has the best of the draw and is over his favourite course and distance. IRISH LUCK (8) has been close-up in his last four starts on the poly. He has gone close over course and distance and must have a strong chance here. SWEEPER KEEPER (4) is 1.5kg better off with Rafiki when last they met beaten a short head. Wendy Whiteheads runner should be able to turn the tables. RAFIKI (7) is a late bloomer having won his last two as a five-year-old. However, he got a five pound shunt up the handicap for his last effort which could put paid to his chances. (Andrew Harrison: 1-8-4-7).

Selections:

#1 BENNI IN THE AREA, #8 IRISH LUCK, #4 SWEEPER KEEPER, #7 RAFIKI

Best Win: #8 MERITORIOUS

Best Value Bet: #5 PREEMPTIVE STRIKE

Best Longshot: #2 SIBERIAN WINTER
